DH working 7 days a week...

I am heartily fed up of him not telling me until the last minute that he is going to work a full weekend on top of a normal week. Yes, I am lucky that he is well paid but he does not need to work 7 days. He is missing spending quality time with the dc and I am left 24/7 to deal with them - no family support, and all my friends work ft bar one. He thinks that as I am the 'mother' it's my job! I feel as though I am on a treadmill. He mocks my voluntary work - 'why do it when you don't get paid?'. Ladies, give me some advice, as my brain is fuzzy atm with a headcold!

I get the Saturday morning "I need to do some work this weekend". You have my sympathy.

My coping mechanisms are to negotiate him down and agree when he does his work. DD gets invited to a lot of birthday parties and so I take DS and we give him 3 clear hours to work then.

My other trick is to pre-plan stuff he can't avoid. Family plans or pre-paid tickets.

Having nothing planned for a weekend is a recipe for him working and/or watching sport.

It's really tough though, no matter how much they earn.

You sound like me a few years ago. We got divorced, I'm afraid. It was a miserable existence in a gilded cage.
The mocking does not sound good. Sad

Some men work long hours when its not necessary as a way of avoiding their families Sad

What do you think is his real reason for working 7 days a week?
And what excuse does he give you?

Mocking you for your voluntary work? What a tw&t.
