That may help someone - it's not widely advertised, but applies to Greater London and Hertfordshire at the moment and is run in conjunction with the Dogs Trust Freedom Project to help victims of DV and their pets. Hopefully one day it will be country wide.

This is amazing - if this had been around a decade ago I might have left my EA husband earlier. Fingers crossed it's extended to the rest of the country.

Just donated - many thanks for letting us know the project is running.

I've also just been told by a rescue friend of mine, there is an organisation working out of Bolton called "Paws for Kids" (She fosters for them). Found Here - Paws for Kids

Paws for Kids covers the whole of the North West of the UK... (from their website)

North West of England - Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and parts of North Derbyshire and Cheshire. In total, the pet fostering service is available to women in 44 different refuges, hostels & safe houses.

The reason I'm posting? A kitten I adopted out last year has just bounced back to me because the owner is in a DV situation and desperate to get out, but desperate to make sure her cat is safe. The cat was used as a football this morning by her partner, because she refused to make him a coffee. Cat is currently at vet with a broken leg and internal injuries and is on his way back to me for safety & fostering whilst she sorts herself out. I didn't realise there were so few options for pets in DV situations.

Oh QuietTiger :( I hope cat is soon on the mend and the owner is well shot of that dickhead as soon as possible.

I fostered a couple of cats for a few months from a DV situation, this was via Cats Protection, it wasn't oficial policy but was done anyway.
