Summer evenings are no more?

Hi, just enjoyed a lush hot summers day in London, got home around 5pm, bathed and fed our 7 month old baby and put her to bed at 7pm as per routine.

However, having had a 'Winter baby' its only just dawned on us: how do we socialise together on a lovely summers night when the baby is fast asleep in bed? We don't have a garden, can't afford a baby sitter and our families live elsewhere in the UK.

Is it going to be like this every summers night from now on? We're a long-term couple who have always enjoyed going out together, but will we ever be able go out past 6pm again?! It's like being a child with a curfew all over again! Yes, there is lots of obvious stuff to do around the house, but we wanna be outside.....together not separately (even just to a pub garden for a few drinks). Any couples in the same boat? What do you do?

Pram/pushchair with blanket you can hang over it whilst sipping a small glass or two in local pub garden early evening. Baby will never know!

Put the baby in a buggy? You can visit friends etc. your dd will adapt, and I assume it won't be every night Wink. Or get a sling and she will sleep.

On the contrary, summer evenings are the time when you can go out. It's warm enough to go sit in the park, go for a walk, visit friends with a garden, sit with a glass of wine somewhere with a view, whatever takes your fancy.

You are very lucky your baby actually goes to sleep at 7pm, you have the whole evening to enjoy whilst she is still portable and is likely to remain asleep out and about with you. Make the most of it whilst you can.
