A few weeks ago I was watching a programme by Louis Theroux about children with Autism, my ds has Autism. This is what was said by H "Ds has had his life taken away. Like the boy who died playing football has had his life taken away. Like a child who has been run over by a car, has had their life taken away. DS has had his life taken away" he then walked up the stairs and went to bed.
We where already planning to separate put for me this has put the final nail in the coffin. I heard this as DS is as good as dead! It has been eating away at me that he feels that about ds.
Today he informed me that he will be moving in with his dad and brother. He has previously talked about wanting joint residence, HA! Not a chance if he is living there, his brother has a drink problem and is an ex drug addict who is still on methadone! His dad is 80, a heavy drinker who has set fire to the house 3 times by putting food on to cook and falling asleep!

And the government seem to be doing down the disabled in the name of equality - so you want to be treated like everyone else, then get a job! Like it's that easy.

Friend's DS has developmental delay, ADHD and autistic traits - he is lovely, has many friends, and is doing well at his special school.

TPP - ha! Yes, and then they all but close down the biggest employer of disabled people (Remploy) by cutting their funding - you can see how they really want to help disabled people to work, can't you! (anger not aimed at you, TPP - aimed squarely where it belongs - Scameron's govt.)

From your op, I'd say that I'd give the benefit of the doubt, that he's grieving the life your ds could have had had he been born without autism.

From the rest of your posts I get that he's a complete arse.

See, even from the OP alone, I would not say that describing an autistic child as like a dead child was a reasonable expression of disappointment and sadness.

The man said DS has "had his life taken away" just the same as the boy who died in an accident. OP heard it as "DS is as good as dead" and so do I.

The thing is, some people - vile, ignorant scum not fit to live in decent society - don't see people with disbilities as equal. But the parents of the disabled should not! Who else is going to make them hold their head up high and teach them to make their way through a harsh world (like you would with all children)?! They DO see their child/ren as equal and wonderful, even if they mourn what they might miss out on or have to face throughout their lives. This is a man who sees his own child as inferior and as bad as dead. That sort of person shouldn't be round any children, never mind his own child with SN.

OP, if he wants joint residence (and why do I think that he will drop this idea as soon as you actually do kick him out, hmm) then is that for both your DC? Because, with a foul attitude towards disability like his, it wouldn't surprise me if he only wants to see his non-SN child.

His attitude makes me sick; I am disabled and furthermore, someone dear to me lost their child aged 3. Having a child with the severest of disabilities would be a dream come true for her compared with having a dead child. He needs to stop having a daydream of what his child 'should' be like and embrace all the wonderful things about him that are real.

Thank you all. garlic that was my point. I wasn't sure if I was being over sensitive, I know know I wasn't. I confronted him over it yesterday and he completely deny's saying it, and if he did he just meant his brain WTF!
Thing is when he say's joint custody he means half and half, he watches too much american talk show tv, there is no way I will allow that.
