Posted back in November when I found out that my adopted sister had been emptying my dying father's bank account without his knowledge. At the time, I was asking your advice on what to do. Many of you (including my friends) said that I would be a complete sucker to forgive her and give her a chance to pay the money back. Well I just want to let you cynical lot know
........you were right .
She has been avoiding my calls and has now moved into a new flat with all the added luxuries of sky, internet, computer etc. In the meantime, I am left as the executor of my father's estate trying to pay off debts knowing that there isn't the money to pay everyone.I feel absolutely gutted - come on someone restore my faith in humanity...

There will always be people like that in the world, dont let them win by letting them destroy your faith in humanity

It wasn't even the money really - I just wanted her to make things right!!

Makes me feel all cynical and cross with the world. Perhaps I need to start a "nice things people have done for no ulterior motive thread!"...

Now there's an idea......

Choccywoccy there was a blessings thread on the philosophy part of the site and because of it I started a blessings tree with my kids where we tie labels on with all the good things that have happened.

there is a book about doing bits of kindness whose name I have forgotten as well and it includes things like standing outside a doctors surgery handing out apples and paying for someones shopping. People do behave like this sometimes.

Going through my own pain at the moment and the one thing I know is to hold onto my belief in people and my optimism. It is that which will enable us all to rise above such people as your sister.

Glitterfairy - thank you for your words of wisdom and I will now take my head out of my backside and start being a bit more positive. Reading a few threads this pm has helped me put all my "stuff" into perspective....
Sending you my thoughts for your difficult times.
