I want to know did it help moving?
Anyone in situation where they still felt a little on edge, looking over your shoulder, checking at the window everytime woke up at night etc

I thought CCTV would help but felt more imprisoned iygwim?

My next step with the help of counselling (having now) to move.

Did moving help or does it need to be sorted in my thoughts and moving then pointless as will always feel on edge etc if I don't sort out my head.
Maybe I don't need to move and just sort my head out?

Yes. We basically moved counties away from all our friends to somewhere where we didn't know anyone. Its been really hard but it was still definately the right decision. He would have made our lives a permanent misery if we had stayed..

I didn't move, but ex lives in another country.

Still, time helps. You will still be aware of your surroundings and a little overcautious, but that's a good thing as we could always be in danger from other people anyway.

If you move you may still fear that he finds you anyway.

Thank you for sharing your experiences Baby and Lueji.

I want to move, but I think it will be over? But counsellor said it will be a new set of walls to hide behind. I understand what is meant and do need to get all this fear of next attack out of my thick head.
I still have to stay in same city but so easy to get lost in a city:)
I hope the counselloring helps me to get past it in my headConfused

i think as you say, getting things sorted with counselling is very important however for me, physicaly moving away from abusive xp has helped a lot.i know that it is far less likely that he will just turn up and I am away from the place where we lived together with all the bad memories. it certainly helps for a fresh start. but if you do decide to move gt in touch with the local domestic violence charity and or womens aid who can help you find housing and keep you safe.

squeakytoy · 21/03/2012 20:28

It certainly helped me.

I moved 250 miles away and got my sanity back.

seaofyou · 21/03/2012 20:48

I agree totally sunrise it is the memories, and get the sanity thing too squeaky!

Did any of you still have the looking, cautious ok paranoid ex is going to strike again?

Even after moving...if so does it fade with time.
I have been thrown into turmoil as was ready to move and told it would not help when deep down I always loved my home it's just ex ruined it here for me and most importantly ds.

It's going to be a long transition as houses just ain't selling. WA don't give help with this ?

Plus I will be moving 2.5 miles away have to stay within same city for ds school due to statement and school is amazing!
