Falling in love..........

So I'm not young (ish) I'm 45, my only experience of falling in love was when I was 21, it blew me away, couldn't eat, sleep, talk, breath.. .so on, so on, it lasted 18 years, we married and had 3 dcs, we split 6 years ago and are still friendly.

My question now is, I have internet dated for a few years, and no one has blown me away, I'm realistic enough to know that it probably won't happen, 'cos believe me I've had a bloody good go lol, I'm now seeing a lovely bloke (for 6 months) he's so kind and caring, we get on and have fun, but not like when I was 21, I think I love him but I don't know

Is my idea of falling in love a bit far fetched? He makes me happy, has anyone been like this and could it be long term, I really feel like a bit of a dick for asking this at my age

I hear you!
I was in EXACTLY the same position with my now husband. I have never had a good r'ship so had no yard stick. My close friend out it to me like this..... could you imagine your life without him and my only definitive answer was 'No'. Love comes in many forms, can be fast, a slow burner. confused with lust etc etc. I do buy into that whole 'blow me away' idea. I think we are led to believe that love is like a Hollyood movie when in reality it rarely is. I think as we get older and more cynical we can perhaps become less compulsive and less likely to be swept up in the whole tsunami of feelings and emotion of new lust love. Listen to your gut instinct. I actually binned my husband three times in the early days of our r'ship because of all the feelings you are questioning on here!

Not for me, met my OH when I was 40. I knew instantly. Never ever felt that way before. I'm very lucky and happy.
