Please agree with me this was a shitty thing for DP to say

Just wanted to vent really.
We've just eaten and my 2 girls and I are watching a film. DP walks in the room and offers us drinks. We're all engrossed in the film (the exciting bit is coming up) and we all ignore him are a bit slow to respond.
He stands there and says "I'm going to have boys with my next wife".

Tell me I'm thoroughly justified to be sat here with a sour face and steam coming out of my ears.

I've got two DDs.

I would laugh and then catch myself on for being so bloody rude to him in the first place.

For the record - your behaviour was worse, IMO.

Catsdontcare · 22/01/2012 18:04

I think it's funny and a lot nicer than the things I say to dh who is incapable of answering a simple question when the tv is

Catsdontcare · 22/01/2012 18:05

On

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2012 18:06

Never ask DH or the DSs a question when they are playing PS3, you will not get a reply. Shock

wildstrawberryplace · 22/01/2012 18:07

I'm sure I heard Craig Charles dedicate a song to "the current Mrs Charles" when he was filling in for whoever it was on Radio 2 over Christmas while we were driving to relatives. I'm sure his wife would have been chuffed with that.

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 22/01/2012 18:08

Ok, Ok, now the intial sting has worn off I'm coming round and realise I was having a sense of humour failure. I have made him a cup of tea and given him a brownie though.

Olympia

Perfectly put!
;)

p.s OP Your husband sounds great.

TidyDancer · 22/01/2012 18:09

It sounds funny to me. And if anyone was in the wrong, it was you, so I hope you haven't given the poor bugger a tough time over this one!

BayPolar · 22/01/2012 18:10

I thought that was going to say, 'and have given him a blow job'.
Grin

TidyDancer · 22/01/2012 18:10

Ooh, there's tea and brownies?!

Leave the bastard.

and bring the tea and brownies round ere

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 22/01/2012 18:15

He came back in the room and said 'That wasn't funny, was it'. I told him I didn't think so and was a little hurt by it, that is all. He apologised. I made him tea.
Might have to make it up to him later...

its pretty rude to ignore someone who is speaking to you

and pretty awful to teach your kids such poor manners

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2012 18:18

It's just family life. Smile

SolpadeineMaxed · 22/01/2012 18:20

He was joking, blimey. You were ignorant, so why are you sat there with steam coming out of your ears?

Anniegetyourgun · 22/01/2012 18:41

He's deluded if he thinks he'd get more attention from boys, though.

happydirection · 22/01/2012 18:56

So true, Annie!

LeoTheLateBloomer · 22/01/2012 18:59

I think it's funny too. My dad has me and my sister, step mother and a female dog. His favourite joke used to be "even the dog's a bitch". We found it hilarious.

JoyceDivision · 22/01/2012 19:04

If its any help dh says to me stuff like 'Oh, you'll look back on today at your 20th wedding anniversary.. with your next dh' or if we blow out birthday candles with dc and when we've been at wishing wells he always does a pretend keel over, to which I usually respond 'I said AT WORK!' before striding over him

Grin
BadDayAtTheOrifice · 22/01/2012 19:05

I think its all in the delivery. He didn't say it in a nasty way, but he is waaay too deadpan sometimes.

lagrandissima · 22/01/2012 19:05

quite funny banter, unless he has someone lined up in the wings...

ohbugrit · 22/01/2012 19:18

Jeez, DH sometimes makes jokes about how much better his first wife was, in the vein of "did I ever tell you what a great cook X was?" if I burn food for example, complete with a mournful sigh. I think it's funny - he'd still be married to her if she was that bloody perfect!

TheMonster · 22/01/2012 19:20

I think it's funny. Have you got PMT?

PfftTheMagicDraco · 22/01/2012 19:23

It's funny!

DexterTheCat · 22/01/2012 19:40

YABU unreasonable to annoyed. You we all really rude.

I live an all male household (a part from me obviously!) and they all do this to me so your DH wouldn't be any better off. I find it infuriating. It's like the TV zombiefies them all and they can't do or say anything as if the TV has sucked all the life out of them.
