My potential Mother-in Law is driving us apart, we are due to get married August this year (have 2 DD's, so our relationship is crucial) and the major point of conflict between us is his bloody Mother. She doesn't directly cause any problems, is just a constant undercurrent of negative feeling. What do I do? Pretend she is a lovely lady and lie to my intended until she dies, or tell him the truth and ask never to be made to be in the same room as her again? Both are impractical, but the constant 'in-between' arguments about her are equally as damaging. Help!

If it's any consolation my dh and my mother don't get on They're sort of civil with each other but that's it. So it is possible.

Is your dh-2b aware of the negative feeling at all? Maybe you should bring it up before it is too late? In a quick side remark kind or way ;)

could you possibly think of a couple of examples recently and say to him that you are not wanting to diss his mother but some things she has done/said recently have upset you. explain them to him and ask how he feels you should deal with the issues as you feel if left may happen again nd he knows her better than you do. tell him that they upset you/made you angry and that you can't accept that or risk it happening again.
