I want my husband back!

DH doesn't drive and we can't afford a car anyway. He got sacked a few months back from the place I worked in and luckily found himself a job shortly after. But he has to leave home at 4am to get there for 6am. When he gets home, between 5 and 7 pm, he is exhausted. Has a shower, dinner, hangs the laundry (I can't reach Blush) after another half hour or so falls asleep.

I'm unemployed at the moment and won't be getting a job anytime soon. I've tried, but I'm pregnant and therefore the changes of getting one are very small. I think it increased my need to be with him though.

I'm not complaining about him. He does try to spend time with us on a Sunday when he's off. I just wish he could find a job close to home and with a better finishing time. I miss my evenings with him.

Anyone else been through the same?

If it were me, I'd make up a nice picnic lunch (assuming money is tight), and meet up with him as a surprise.

If you can afford it, (maybe just a subway or something), you could meet him for lunch a few times a week?

My dh travels internationally for at least two weeks a month so I have been known to turn up in Brussels or Barcelona to surprise him for a couple of nights Smile.

It's lovely for them to know that you'll make an effort to meet up with them.

Yes, when my OH managed a pub - so worked 5 afternoons/nights a week, while i worked the more usual 9 to 5. Had two evenings a week together.

Just be glad he's working, especaiily as you have a baby on the way. Yes, grim hours - I bet he is tired after such an early start.

I feel sad for you

But I feel admiration for your husband

he is "getting on his bike" as they used to say, to find work

you can be sooooooo proud of him

you have him when he is tired

but that is better that many of the blokes I know in the construction industry who have had to go abroad to find work....sometimes not coming home for wks on end

I don't want to do a competitive pity party because in this day and age you go where the work is

thumbs up to your dh, and a little hug and Wine for you

Great suggestion. His lunch break is a 10am normally although sometimes he has to go around 8 am if they know a big delivery is coming in. It's a farm place so not sure if DD would be aloud in. Big warehouse. Nothing around it like gaffes to meet up or anything. But I'll consider it. Just need to look into it better.

Thanks for the positive posts.

I am very proud of him. Just miss him sooo much. We're so young and I can't help it but to ask myself if things will ever get better. I'm sure they will and we will appreciate it even more than if it'd been easy I suppose.
