ans is nothing to do with my family at all.
My mother carries a keyring round with her with pictures of my sisters kids on.
I was meant to be going to the Trafford centre with her the other day and cancelled via text saying cant go ds is poorly. she replied "ok", no how is he? whats wrong with him?
She just isnt interested in him at all, yet dotes on the other two.
Just spoken to my dad who tells me that i couldnt go to Traff, centre because it was raining. "NO" says i, "ds was and still is poorly".
"oh" says he then proceeds to tell me how ill he has been. Never asked another thing about him at all.
This is what its always like and it gets me down, they just dont seem to care any thing about him.
Just ranting Been doing allot of that lately on here.

Don't let them get you down. From what you've told me about them, they've done enough harm to you in the past already without letting them upset you over this.

We can't make our parents be the parents we want them to be, and we can't turn them into the grandparents that our children deserve, either.

Do you make all the contact with your parents? I just wondered whether not contacting them for a few weeks would make you feel any better - or even if it would make them miss their grandson enough to insitgate contact and ask to see him.

hi donbean

how old is ds again? i cant seem to remember

is he feeling better now?

all i can say to you is ds knows you love him and you are all he needs

maybe your parents seem to have more time for your sisters kids, but they dont really. your sister probably gave them the keyring and they felt obliged to use it

you never know, your sister maybe feels the same way as you do!

but as wwb says, grandparents have their faults, dont let them hurt your feelings please xxx

I dont have contact with them, they contact me. My mother once every couple of months or so. (thats enough for me) and my dad bobs round once a week or so. He just talks about himself and i just listen.
Im feeling rotten at the mo because im so tired, this is just exsaserbating my annoyance at them i suppose.
Normally it doesnt bother me that much, just today im annoyed about it.
My little ds is 2, the youngest grandchild.
My mother has my niece and nephew for my sisters at least once a week but has never ever had ds, never even offered. He doesnt know her so i wouldnt allow it any way.

My sympathies Donbean, I've got a MIL very similar. She has told us she can't come down to see Dd (who's only 6 weeks) as SFIL can't drive with a bad shoulder (appentley the trains dont' run from where she lives) and then goes on to tell us they're gearing up for a holiday in the Maldives.

It could be as KS says, MIL also dotes on her SDS, while ignoring her natural children, my poor DH included.

Haven't got any advice, I just button it and let the smoke poor out my ears.

It is so hard when they are poorly and im feeling a bit lonely with it too.
Not slept for more than 3 hours for the last week with poorly ds and tonight im on a night shift, with no one to have ds tomorow, im not going to get to bed till tomorow night. Feeling very low.

You know what? I don't think you or your ds are missing out on much.

Console yourself with the fact that you are 100 times the mother that yours is, and that you have enough love for your ds to mean that it doesn't matter about his grandparents.

Things always seem worse when you're tired; don't let it upset you any more - they're not worth your tears.
