...trust it.

Especially when dealing with instints about a relationship - romantic, or otherwise.

?????

caramelwaffle · 14/02/2011 20:38

Have a quick peruse of the "Gaslightling" thread shabby.

Think there is a difference between instinct and paranoia though and some people can confuse the two.

Whats happened?

Roisinniamh · 14/02/2011 20:39

I agree, it's a powerful tool. I ignored mine once, concerning a job and it was a bg mistake.

FaffTastic · 14/02/2011 20:41

x-post. Have read the post you're referring to now and yes, instinct is normally right in instances like this.

OhForBoonessSake · 14/02/2011 20:42

haven't read the thread but i agree.

caramelwaffle · 14/02/2011 20:44

Yes Roisin. I turned down a potential business partner once on nothing but a gut feeling; nothing concrete. On paper he was fabulous. Turned out eventually, he was a prolific fraudster.

Can someone post a link to the thread you're talking about please?

shabby7 · 14/02/2011 20:52

Just read it. I agree - I always trust my gut feelings.

caramelwaffle · 14/02/2011 20:54

Amber - the thread is called "Gaslighting - how do you know"

Although my point about trusting your instincts is not only specific to that thread IYSWIM

OP posts:
Wysiwig · 14/02/2011 21:05

Gut instinct...never to be ignored..

amberleaf · 14/02/2011 21:07

Thanks caramel found it!

I agree about trusting your instincts totally.

SnowyBriar2 · 14/02/2011 21:09

I agree intution/gut instinct what ever you call it is always right.

Problem is if you are being Gaslight or such like...you tend to lose the ability to feel/hear that instinct...if you listen hard enough though it's always there.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 14/02/2011 22:07

I should be on my DHs payroll, my gut instinct is so good...met his new team at the Christmas party. Instantly took a dislike to one of his team and 'knew' there was something 'off' about her...roll on a few months, she's made a lot of mistakes at work, not showed up for work, missed client appointments and then Amex called saying she's racked up $20k of personal expenses on her company Amex card and could they have permission to cancel it! See, I just knew!

SueWhite · 14/02/2011 23:24

Oh, mine's shit. I'm always getting a 'feeling' about people who turn out to be perfectly decent.

beatenbyayellowteacup · 14/02/2011 23:30

Shit. I've got a gut feeling about my job...it aint pretty...

Piscean73 · 14/02/2011 23:34

Good call. Trust that instinct - it is more powerful than any damn radar :)

LittleHouseByTheRiver · 14/02/2011 23:37

I had a gut instinct once that the vicar that christened my DD1 was dodgy. Four years later he was in prison for fraud. And he wore white shoes Grin

Agree - always trust that little voice in your head!

blackletterday · 14/02/2011 23:39

I'm not sure, I have had "gut instincts" about dp, but I think it is paranoia. Paranoia can be quite misleading, specially when combined with the relationship board, you can be convinced every man is up to something, I could be wrong though and it turns out he IS a bastard.

Quattrocento · 14/02/2011 23:40

Gosh I shall now always view people who wear white shoes with suspicion

Do you think I should bin my white sandals? I have two pairs of them and they were fiendishly expensive. But now that I know they brand me as a child-abuser I should definitely chuck them, shouldn't I?

Or are you totally mad?

FrozenChocolate · 14/02/2011 23:52

Little House said he was in prison for fraud, not child abuse.

Quattrocento · 14/02/2011 23:54

Oh aye. Okay. Fraudster me with my white sandals.

Utterly bonkers

LittleHouseByTheRiver · 15/02/2011 00:02

I don't trust men who wear white shoes these days QC Grin After the dodgy vicar I met an estate agent who wore white deck shoes and he lied and lied and lied. It was so easy to catch him out that I didn't lose anything but the bullshit radar was squawking.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 15/02/2011 01:23

Just binned DHs white pumas!
