Marriage counselling?

After many chats with H over the festive period he has finally agreed to go to see a marriage counsellor. Have suggested this to him for many years but think he has finally realised that if he doesn't go with me it will all be over.
There is no real "problem" just years of resentment (mine) and selfishness (his).
Anyhow how on earth do I choose a counsellor? I tried looking online but so confused and didn't realise how expensive it would be!!! Of course I can't put a price on saving my marriage but it looks like average cost here is £60 a session, lot of money if it doesn't help!

Anyone got any advice on what I should look for in a counsellor? Or is it just a case of picking one and hoping for best?

Relate is cheaper in that they are a charity and will take a contribution towards costs in some instances. But this may mean that you have to be placed on a waiting list and are restricted with regards the times/dates that are available to you.

Or you might enquire about whether trainee counsellors would be less costly.

Oh the BACP and UKCP qualifications (I think!) are the ones to look for as regards training, but you need to feel comfortable with your counsellor and be prepared to change if you feel that you don't.
