And had to be blue-lighted in a week after he came out because of a major bleed from an ulcer. We nearly lost him. I cried and cried and was so scared. MN rallied round of course Smile He came out and slowly got better.

He's not 100%. He never will be now at nearly 80 but he's much better. Tonight I am going to a poetry reading at the Arts Centre from the Creative Writing group dad goes to.

I have never been so looking forward to 2 hours of execrable poetry in my entire life Grin.

Hope you had a great time Orm, l think l truely did not appreciate my dad till l lost hime 10 years ago tomorrow.

hopefully you will have many more years together, but capture each moment and make them special.
They will be wonderful comforting memories in years to come.

Thanks everyone.

The concert was better than I expected. Dad read a piece in memory of an old chap he knew who used to be in the writing group who died in sept. All the writing was good. And there was a choir - run by a Natural Voice practitioner. Really quite amazing. And a band of super-annuated hippies playing classical instruments with 2 electric guitars. All in all a good night.

I have every intention to make the most of our time.

Can I add my by-pass story for a bit of added inspiration?

DH's dad had his first by-pass in 1980 at the age of about 52. He had more heart attacks after that (he's had 7 in total!!) and had another by-pass (triple) in 1991.

The night before his operation I honestly thought I'd never see him again, he looked so ill. After the op they said it wasn't particularly successful and at best it would last about 2 years. Now in 2010, 19 years after his "not particularly successful) op, the old man is 85. Obviously he's not turning cartwheels but he's stil here, pottering about and every year when he turns up at his annual hospital check up they call him him the "medical marvel"!!
