My dd wasnt well for first 4 months- cried 8=hours a day so we decided for me to take the 6 months unpaid mat leave by getting a loan to cover outgoings til I went back to work next Jan. DH and I agreed to transfer a set amount each month so it would last. He informed me last night we have enough left to last til the end of the month!!!!He has been transferring money from savings willy nilly. Told him he should have told me things were tight and we could have cut back/budgeted each month but he said 'I didn't want to worry you'!!Am fuming. Looks like I will now have to go back to work asap and have to give 28 days notice plus take leave first too. Have no childcare arranged and am also changing fleet(I am cabin crew) so will have pressure of retraining etc. Am I being unreasonable by being angry?Somehow he's made me feel I am. Have just screamed at him and hes gone to work. Sorry for the rant but its needed!

sympathies -and yes you have every right to be pissed off. If he wants to take repsonsibilty for the money - he only has the right to do that if he can provide it IYKWIM.
Is there nothing you could do part time to give you some extra cash rather than going back to work too early?
Childminding, ironing, selling stuff on ebay, gardening, party plan type thingies???

I would be furious, but from what you've said here it does sound as if responsibility for handling money and 'worrying about it' between you is a bit confused?

Nightmare re having to go back to work unexpectedly - the mere idea brings me out in a sweat. Can your dh take some holiday/unpaid parental leave to ease the transition? Or could you extend the loan a bit (bad idea, I know). Any family help to be had?

I know I should have taken responsibility for the money but I thought he would do what we agreed. The most annoying thing is that he cant see that he's done anything wrong!By going back to work now it also means I will probable have to work xmas as we had to book time off for then months ago. May have to think about extending loan or adding some to mortgage. Think we need to sit down and have a really good look at our finances- write down all our outgoings and see where we can cut back. Thought of going back to work now is making me cry- wasnt prepared for this at all and am only now enjoying my time with DD.

Just to add dont think our families would help. Havent had contact with my mum for 2 years- she doesnt know about dd.Our dads are financially well off but believe you should stand on your own 2 feet so dont really want to ask.
