Basically, I keep seeing DHs about who dutifully complete housework, seemingly enjoy family outings, have basic manners sussed, don't swear, eat with their mouth closed and tend to enjoy spending time with their DCs. I am looking for some simple advice on how to turn my DH into one of these. If you have had a similar experience I would love to hear from you. By the way, he was the doting DH etc with fab manners until I married/had kids with him!!! I am sure there are things he would like to change about me but that is up to him to organise ( seriously I can't do it all)! Waiting with pen and paper at the ready.

how old are dcs?

Thank you moondog, that seems a good place to start. All advice is much appreciated, fine tuning is not a skill of mine. DCs are 6 and 3. Oh, I thought I would mention DH is a tiger in bed, so I know I can't have it all. Feel a bit bad so thought I would put in one of his strengths.

one thing that worked on dh was seeing how the dcs copied him

the first tiem dd said 'but you [shout / eat with you rmouth open / walk away when I;m talking to you], Daddy' was a bit of a turning point

Thanks MrsB, that seems a good place to start. I will watch out for my little angels displaying little devil qualities.

Use a carrot not a stick approach to training. Lots of rewards.

Invite your friend round for dinner and prime them to say, under guise of the drink talking, BLEURGH do you always eat with your mouth open?

mummy2theboys · 08/08/2010 20:14

Thats all good advice MNers, will try them out. I have one friend in particular who will be game for your idea Katisha. Just popping out to shop Karmamama, to buy a big bag of juicy carrots.

No hope. You cant teach an old dog new tricks.

You married it, you live with it!

mummy2theboys · 09/08/2010 14:52

Oh, I don't know about that. I am the eternal optimist. I sent him to the shops this morning, he came back with everything on the list. I rewarded him with a rare roast beef sandwich, seemed to do the trick.
