Sorry to lower the tone but can we talk about sex "discharge"

Am regular, have name changed.

I'm currently sleeping with a newish boyfriend (3 months). We are using condoms. I noticed last night )and have noticed with others) that at the base of his penis there is sometimes a white/milky "discharge". TMI but, It sort of looks like moisturiser, you know how it forms around the lid of the bottle? A little gloopy and not totally smooth IYKWIM?

Am trying to figure out of this is normal or a yeast thing? I do get discharge during the day too but assumed it was normal; sometimes clear and glue like, some times milky. Never any smell/itching/burning etc.

Starting to winder if I should have put this in general health!

Clamydia or Gonorrhoea I would imagine.

Both of those cause a discharge for men, I would insist that he gets himself checked personally.

The discharge is mine I'm sure; it was outside the condom.

Normal cervical mucus can get gloopy like that. If your GP ever hands you a mirror and lets you look while doing a smear you'll see it look like that inside the vagina, especially after ovulation when it gets thicker.

Could also be the lubrication from the condom, combined with your natural fluids.

AnyFucker · 11/07/2010 15:34

It could be that you have thrush, perhaps you could get checked out

Or just take an over-the-counter anti-thrush med and see if the problem resolves

It doesn't always cause itching, and tbh, if you are using condoms (good girl, btw ) it can make you more susceptible

Do you use lube ? Condoms can be a bit kinda "draggy", adding to the problem...

I'm getting a smear tomorrow, can they do a one stop shop road test for anything else whilst they're down there do you reckon?

I may just grab some Thrush stuff too to be certain, what's best tablets or cream? I've never had Thrush (I don't think!). I take real pro-biotics every day (not those actimel sugary drinks) and eat pro-biotic yoghurt every day too.

On the (water based) lube front, it depends on what's occurring naturally. Maybe 40% of the time yes. My period is due tomorrow so that might have an effect too?

No help with your question but...
If you are having your smear tomorrow and due on wont that cause problems?

Smears are best done 10 to 14 days after your period starts.

Tell me about it but my GP didn't have any appointments other than this one and I wanted to book it before I forgot. The nurse aid it'd be fine and I just need to cancel if my period arrives before the smear appointment.

Tablets is best. Just ask for the one-tablet oral treatment for thrush. Messing about with creams is rubbish.

Yes, if you are having a smear, ask them to swab you for thrush at the same time. They don't do it unless you ask though.
