Forgot to add, though I don't live in London any more I do listen a lot to BBC Radio London - I love Danny Baker with Amy Lame or Baylen Leonard, I listen to the breakfast show though Jo Good's inaccuracies and mistakes get on my nerves,as does Paul Ross' know-it-all-ness, Robert Elms plays good music but can be a bit tiresome. I am also fond of Vanessa Feltz.

I love The News Quiz, especially now that Sandi Toksvig is doing it. A lot of the comedy is very good, especially Claire in the Community which made me PMSL almost the entire time I was listening to it.

There is a lovely programme on Radio Gurnsey called Classical Choice which I listen to online using Listen Again. There is often a little bit of Gurnsey news before the programme starts which is really sweet, stories about a postbox on X Road being out of commission after being hit by a van etc.

When I was working from home I used to listen to lots of drama too, some of the sci-fi is really good as is some of the crime drama.

I virtually never listen to live radio, but then I don't watch all that much live tv either.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/09/2008 12:53

forgot Sandi Toksvig - love her and News Quiz

I don't hate You and Yours. Just think half an hour per day would be plenty!

Just listened to Brain of Brains... I used to find Robert Robinson irritating but I'm really pleased to have the old buffer back in his rightful place!

LittleMyDancing · 15/09/2008 14:14

I wobble between Radio 2 and Radio 4 - can't stand Jeremy Vine and his pseudo debate nonsense, and where does he find the frothing lunatics who phone in to his show?

There was one the other day who called in about the Greenpeace protesters who got acquitted after climbing the power station chimney. He said 'If it had been me, I'd have sealed the chimney doors shut and started the power station up and burned them all to hell'

So that's a measured response to a peaceful protest, isn't it?

I Eddie Mair. He's all mine.

ChippyMinton · 15/09/2008 16:35

Robert Elms on BBC London 12-3pm
He plays some great tracks, has quirky phone-ins and interesting, non-mainstream guests. He accompanies me home from work

Shh,don't tell anyone but I like half an hour of Sarah Kennedy on Radio 2 in the early mornings.

I am allergic to 5Live.

PuppyMonkey · 15/09/2008 16:36

I have listened to the radio and my favourite newsreaders is Finella Fudge.

bagsforlife · 15/09/2008 16:40

I secretly quite like Sarah Kennedy too. I know she is abhorred by lots of people but I think she's got a nice voice and find her strangely soothing very early in the morning. Wouldn't want to listen to her all day though. Agree with LittleMyDancing re Jeremy Vine and the people who ring in. Nothing like a reasoned reaction to things is there?

Blandmum · 15/09/2008 19:55

eachpeach, I suppose that to say 'know' him is over egging the cake a little but I have met him several times, Peter Oppenheimer, who used to be in the Midlands team

EachPeachPearMum · 15/09/2008 20:13

I think from these threads we could put together a mn RBQ team! Quite a few of us have said how much we enjoy it, and it has definitely become easier as I have become older.

Ha- even Brain of Britain is easier these days

jeanjeannie · 16/09/2008 09:19

Oh a RBQ team - that'd be priceless! Why stop there? We should have a MN team for every radio 4 quiz and single entries for Ken Bruce's R2 Popmaster, as that seems quite popular. I'll leave anything on R1 well alone as I'm way too old to even find it on the radio these day

PurpleOne · 18/09/2008 01:44

Talk Sport fan here and I adore Ian Collins.

I blame him totally for keeping me awake at night, and sniggering under the duvet.

Keep up the great work lads!

Bobbiewickham · 18/09/2008 11:10

I love Radcliffe and Maconie.

So much so that I hardly watch telly any more and intend to put a sofa in my kitchen so I can listen in more comfort.

Have grudging regard for Ken Bruce and long to do Popmaster.

Like Chris Evans if in a good mood.

Steve Wright makes my teeth itch and should be put down, but occasionally makes me laugh, then I feel dirty.

Radio 4 for Sunday mornings only - up to Sheila Dillon on the food programme, which invokes suicidal feelings (a bit like the theme tune to South Bank Show when a child).

Jeremy Vine a wanker, but I listen every day. Still miss Jimmy Young a bit.

Wogan every morning. Know all is well with world when he's on, even though he can be an old fart.

Enjoy listening to Sarah Kennedy in order to ascertain how pissed she is on any given morning.

And like folk show with My Cardie (I think that's his name).

I love my radio. Would pick it over telly any day.

Bobbiewickham · 18/09/2008 11:15

Favourite newsreader, Fenella Fudge, for the rocking name.

I remember when she was a Haddingham. I also remember bursting out laughing the first time I heard her say "Fenella Fudge".

MadameCastafiore · 18/09/2008 11:16

This thread is unfair - they have changed something about radio where I live - got everything on DAB and them came back from holiday and all I can get is sodding BBC Essex and it is completely shite - the sort of playlist and monotone voices talking about complete kack that makes you want to stuff bread into your ears so you can't hear it.

LBC with steve allen, james o'brian and jenny barnet. all fab

megcleary · 15/10/2008 21:28

am a fan of five live its like Trisha a bit no pics and current fave is "fighting talk" on saturday mornings

fionaann · 02/12/2008 12:45

I think Evan Davies and Nick Robinson were the dream team. Ed Stourton and James Naughtie are soporific and John Humphreys not as good or forensic in his interviews as he should be/thinks he is.

Used to find Eddie Mair irritating but a friend of mine works with him and said he's great to work with. I had no idea he was gay.

Love the News Quiz and parts of the Now Show. Love anything presented by Clive Anderson - Loose Ends much better with him. Who is that awful N Irish guy who has presented Loose Ends and Saturday Live? Dreadfully unfunny.
