Please can you recommend your favourite podcasts. I have just started listening and find the choice amazing but overwhelming

Some of my favourites:

Criminal - true crime that is not all murder and the host has the lovliest voice.

Modern Love - true romantic stories sent to the New York Times for its regular column, often read by celebrities.

Lore: Myths, legends, creatures and dark history of the past, with a great human element.

Outspoken Beauty

Food for Thought

I really enjoyed recently -

Where is Martin Gibney? - BBC Sounds. Investigative podcast from Ireland about a swimming coach who escaped justice from accusations of child abuse by running to Florida.

The Rest is History - Chat-style discussion between historians Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook about all aspects of history. Fairly light but incredibly educational! My favourite was discussion about historical 'Brexits' and Conspiracy Theories.

'We Crashed - the rise and fall of WeWork' about the company WeWork who went a bit nuts and overinflated their share prices before they floated on the stock market in the US. Really interesting.

Triggernometry - just great in depths interviews with sometimes controversial people. Great stuff.

Andrew Doyle Culture Wars - monthly podcast but worth it. Really great interviews with people who have often fallen foul of cancel culture etc.

I personally think that the eboys podcast is the best one out there. It's very inspiring and educational, perfect to entertain the kiddos while your having a nice cuppa 😉

Know this is an old thread but I'm looking to "get into" podcasts.

But I really don't know where to start!

So..:

Any recommendations for someone who is normally an unashamed telly addict? I mainly like light dramas like ncis, castle, murder she wrote kinda thing, occasionally will watch something heavier going

Also melodramas like how to get away with murder, revenge, scandal

I also like quiz NOT game shows proper quiz shows, occasional panel show, so I like my trivia but not loads of in depth discussion on one piece of trivia

I'm also an 80's person music wise

I'd say more 90's film wise though, superhero films (though I'm more deadpool than marvel generally speaking though I like iron man, irreverent sarcastic humour my speed)

I actually really like Matthew Rudd on absolute 80's on a Sunday night doing forgotten 80's with a little info/background on the tracks/artists (wondering if he has a podcast)

Hope that gives you a rough idea so as I get good recommendations hopefully. Still browsing this thread too.

Also a question - if you listen to podcasts do they swallow all your data storage? I have vague memories of this being a problem in the past and I don't want to risk it now

This Podcast Will Kill You is fab. It goes in depth into diseases, the symptoms, how you catch it, history etc. It's excellent.
Graphista only uses your data if you download it, when you subscribe make sure you don't select download new episodes and you can just listen on WiFi.

Thanks for the data tip

Another vote for Ear Hustle here. Very interesting but you need to start from the beginning.
RHLSTP is good also but you can just dip in and out of that depending on the guests. Also Off Menu is an easy, amusing listen.
If you want true crime (ish) serial killer stuff then All Killa No Filla is great but I'd go back to the start so that you can pick up on some of the references they use
