What can I listen to that is not depressing as hell?

I'm a big fan of the radio to potter about to while the small children destroy the house around me, but lately everything I turn on (ok, Radio 4) is super depressing. Brexit, drugs, knife crime, the dark web, gambling addictions, suicides... I know this is the world we live in but I don't remember radio programming always being so bloody bleak?

Is there anything on R4, or are there any podcasts worth listening to that might cheer me up, or at least not be so depressing?

Obviously TA is a given Grin

Forgot to mention Mark Steel's In Town!

Such a good chuckle! And even funnier if you are familiar with the town in question.

I like the Seriously podcasts and Weekend Woman's Hour as well as the daily WH. Love Jane Garvey in her podcast, Fortunately, too.

Cabin Pressure is on YouTube. Search for GERTI A - U for episodes A-U. The rest are on there too. I've been binge listening overnight and absolutely adore the show.

Has anyone said Mark Steel’s in Town?

They are all genius, but I think my favourite might be Alderney where everybody has 3 very diverse jobs Grin

Also Claire in the Community & Chain Reaction

And it’s well worth looking through the DID archives - there are some fascinating interviewees on there.

(The only interviewer I really like is Kirsty though. Michael Parkinson is all mememe & even Sue Lawley doesn’t listen properly Hmm)

Did you ever hear David Sedaris's piece about the performing bear? Absolute cut-your-throat stuff. Came from left field as I was expecting the usual entertainment.
