I thought there was BOUND to be a thread on this - apparently not, so I'm starting one!

I loved drive time with Simon Mayo and have to say that although I'm sticking with it, I am not a big fan of the new format. However! Quite liking Jo with Ricky!!! Feels like there's more chemistry and even (sorry Simon) think I'm preferring it to Simon and Jo!! Obviously Simon on his own is the best but am I alone in thinking the Jo and Ricky combo is working out?

Maybe Matt can partner Simon when Jo goes on holiday.

Ricky is far better with Jo as he sounds playful, Simon just sounds fed up.

I still wish they'd just put it back how it was.

Namechangeforhair · 13/08/2018 21:12

Who's on there now? Is Simon ever coming back!

ShowOfHands · 16/08/2018 18:52

I am finding it excruciating.

At least Craig is in the 2pm slot atm.

MsHomeSlice · 17/08/2018 15:02

it's weird AF now isn't it???

It's OJ someone, and your archetypal ditzy irish woman cos Jo has buggered off on holiday and presumably taken Ricky with her to live happily ever after

OJwhosit is from the after midnight show I think and dh said the IrishGurl has a spot early sunday mornings. I have never heard that and I thought it was Marion Keyes ?? the author and crazy strictly fan, but apparently not. Same high energy ditzy vibe though. Exhausting.

I shall be glad to have Simon and Jo back after that pair tbh.

I'm not a Jo and Simon combo fan at all. I wish he would go back to presenting on his own. I have a friend who works at R2 apparently Simon wanted to leave and they persuaded him to co present instead to halve the work. I think Jo was a bad choice. She is good at what she does but mainstream peak time is not her thing. So so so wrong.

I too wish Vanessa could replace JV. Apparently she is v nice to all the staff there.

Steve Wright should do one too. I would like to hear more of Lisa Tarbuck but she is in the right slot early Sat eve.

MsHomeSlice · 02/09/2018 21:07

now I used to like Lisa of a Saturday evening and then she went a bit craycray, with her silly asides, and the random accents and tones so I only listen if i am cooking

I was listening more to Jo and Simon and thought that she is bedding in, after the Edinburgh festival and all, but then he says something snidey, or shuts down a bit of humour from her and it all goes wrong again.

parklives · 05/09/2018 23:04

I agree, Jo is trying her best, she's not a good fit, but Simon is being a grumpy moody teenager.
I loved both their old shows, I wonder if there's any point hoping the bbc will put them back again?

theliverpoolone · 10/09/2018 17:19

Jo and Simon are away all this week, and the replacement presenters made it sound like it was a bit unexpected when they first came on just now - is this a planned absence, or have they just given up and walked, do you think?! Hmm

ForgiveMeFatherForIHaveGinned · 11/09/2018 17:31

I just came on to see if anyone else had posted here about the latest stand ins! It does seem strange how often there is cover, simon never had as much time off when he was on his own. Wonder what’s going on in the background!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 11/09/2018 17:34

Jo Whiley does a weird slurpy breath intake every now and then. I can't un-hear it now! I don't mind Suzy Perry. Not sure about OJ.
