Never ever listened to the archers but it was on at work other day and it sounds like it's right up my street . It was the omnibus where pup tells her parents she is pregnant and a foreign lady agrees to be a surrogate for a gay couple . Will I be able to get into it or am I wasting my time ??

I finish work at 2pm so listen everyday on my way home. Have done for years and years. All that run down explains why I never have a clue what's going on or who anyone is. I find it comforting and confusing.

I'm a nurse in the community who drives a lot, I discovered The Archers accidentally when I was fed up of the repetitive music on other stations & enjoyed it and picked up the story lines really quickly. I find that even if I don't listen in for a while, I can still pick up what's going on.

It's made me realise that I actually really like audio drama.. can anyone recommend any others? Cheers

As a dairy farmers wife it's so funny listening to them about getting a rotary parlour etc .they make everything sound so plain sailing and financially viable . Wish we lived in Ambridge 😂

I would recommend reading the three Archers novels. I have been listening regularly for a few years, and had listened occasionally for about 15 years. When I was on holiday last summer there was a village sale and I saw the first novel for 50p and bought it as a holiday fun read. I really enjoyed it and ordered the other 2 from Amazon. They have really filled in a lot of the gaps in my knowledge and given some sense of the motivation for what the characters do now.

I wish there was a fourth one though that would fill in my gap from 2000-2013 ish!

Do just start listening though, and listen to the Dum Tee Dum podcast, which is very informative, fun, and surprisingly rude!!
