I want to start listening to The Archers, what do I need to know not to be lost?

I listened for the first time today (it was yesterday's episode). Is there a thread or website somewhere that will give me a who's who? Grin

Brian was equally red-blooded

Brian was a serial philanderer - even tried it on with Betty at one point. Caroline was one of his longer lasting affairs. Jenny nearly left him more than once.

Jenny had children by three different fathers but was in one relationship at a time. There was the faintest hint that she may have had a moment with Debbie's visiting father at one point when Brian was off shagging his then squeeze but it was never confirmed one way or the other.

I'm sorry, I'm still a few weeks behind so they plot lines may have already come to fruition but Kirsty and the older lady (can't remember her name. Is she Jennifer?) keep talking about Kirsty's passion projects and philanthropy etc. What's the significance? Is it just her discovering stuff and changing it is Kirsty leading her astray?

Do you mean Jill?

MiddleClassProblem · 17/07/2017 13:41

Maybe I have no idea lol

I'm not sure of the significance. Peggy gave Kirsty a goodwill gesture of a fairly large cheque recently and she hasn't spent/invested it yet. We were expecting her to set up some bee-related enterprise but maybe it will be a charity/homeless thing instead.

Meanwhile, Jill has always been a bit of a Leftie in theory but I've not noticed her doing anything practical with her convictions. All her doing-good-to-her-fellow-man has been family-based - she was a SAHParent then SAHGrandparent. Maybe, now that all the DGC are grown up, she is semi-redundant and looking for people to need her things to do. Kirsty has always been an activist.

There has never previously been a connection between Kirsty and Jill. It was Kirsty and Pat: Pat is her bf's mum, was going to be her MIL (they got on well) but Kirsty is currently disappointed in Bridge Farm and their sellout to Justin.

Thank you! I think I'm still learning to not read too much into things as you do with tv soaps and dramas

They know that we listen a bit too closely and like to throw in a dummy every now and then, just to tease us. We are still waiting for the denouement of all those hints about about a sinkhole.Grin

I forgot about Peggy's cheque! I always get Peggy, Pat and Jill mixed up, and considering they all hang out together a lot it makes it even more confusing!

Matt in you head dresses like Del Boy

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/07/2017 20:55

In my head Matt has bleached hair and teeth to match, and wears a golf cap at all times.

Did she have an affair with John Tregorran ? Hence the surprisingly large bequest.
