I have an Audible subscription and I love my comedies. I have all of Cabin Pressure, Clare in the Community, Old Harry's Game, Giles Wemmbley-Hogg and The Castle.
I have tried Revolting People - not bothered
Also Bleak Expectations - hmm ok
Have I missed some gems here? I have loads of ISIHAC as well, and in any case what I'm really after is a radio sitcom.
I am desperate now!! Any ideas?
Ta muchly

Oh dear. Have I got all the good ones then?

Not a sitcom but Isy Suttie's love letters are really good, there are four I think. The first one, Peter and Anne is just fabulous.

I download the News Quiz and Now Show from radio 4, Frank Skinner and Answer Me This, all very funny but not sitcoms.

Uuummm I think you've got all the ones I like. Cabin pressure is my all time favourite. Do you like sketch shows and panel shows or just series?

In terms of sketch shows there's John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme. In panel shows I like The Unbelievable Truth, I'm sorry I haven't a clue, just a minute.

TheEnduringMoment · 14/01/2015 06:14

I loved Nebulous but it's perhaps a specialist taste. People Like Us was very good. Elvenquest was OK but I'm not sure I'd pay money for it. And Now In Colour and The Million Pound Radio Show from the 80s / early 90s were good. You could go retro with Round The Horne, I'm sorry I'll read that again, The Goons or The Navy Lark.

Or just listen to Radio 4 extra for a week and see what takes your fancy

Have a scroll through this page to see if anything takes your fancy eg Fags, Mags and Bags.

confusedandemployed · 14/01/2015 21:47

Thanks everyone. I will check them all out. Excellent, off I pop to Audible...

Just A Minute
Ladies of Letters

Is Hitchhiker's Guide available?

newyorkminute · 14/01/2015 21:59

Start/Stop is brilliant. Especially the first series with Kathryn Parkinson.

Westendgal · 14/01/2015 22:13

Are you familiar with David Sedaris? Very funny. Find him on Radio 4

TheEnduringMoment · 14/01/2015 22:56

Ladies of Letters was funny.
In a similar middle aged women vibe (but more realistic) you could try After Henry or No Commitments.

Flumpenintelligentsia · 15/01/2015 10:22

I quite liked Miles Jupp's In and Out of the Kitchen, and definitely John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme.

Sandwichmum · 15/01/2015 20:13

Two Doors Down and Robin and Wendy's Wet Weekends. The latter is very funny in a terribly sad way.

TiggyD · 15/01/2015 20:20

I'm a Count Arthur Strong fan but a lot of people aren't. He's different on Radio to TV.
The Masterson Inheritance is great, and is on Radio 4 extra at the moment, but it's improvised, so very different to a regular sitcom.

I know you said sitcoms, but the classic radio shows can't be ignored. Goon Show, Round The Horne, I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again, The Burkis Way, Radio Active, The Day Today...

RocknRollNerd · 16/01/2015 17:23

Warhorses of Letters is very good. We also like Ed Reardon's week.

CaptainJamesTKirk · 16/01/2015 20:53

Not a sitcom but Rebecca Front on I've never seen Star Wars was hilarious!

KnappShappeyShipwright · 18/01/2015 20:36

I love all the comedies you listed - the only others I can offer are Hut 33 ( wartime code breakers, written by James Cary) and Double Science (only one series, a pair of inept teachers played by two chaps from Horrible Histories).

Theas18 · 18/01/2015 20:38

The recent redefines of the lost Hancocks were bril.

Panzee · 18/01/2015 20:46

Is Dirk Gently available? I liked those.

mrsmootoo · 30/01/2015 16:58

Tom Wrigglesworth and David Sedaris. Not sitcoms but gently funny.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 01/02/2015 13:40

Ed Reardon is brilliant. Years ago I used to like that Simon Brent thing with Priscilla Scales - ummm - off to Google - No Commitments, I think. After Henry was later and I quite liked that too. I also enjoy his Charles Parris series - unsuccessful actor (played by Bill Nighy) turns detective.

Bluestocking · 03/02/2015 07:55

I've just discovered Gloomsbury - very funny!

MsRabble · 08/02/2015 15:57

Following with interest, loads of good suggestions here.

I love No Commitments, but don't think it's available now. Annoyingly the reruns are always a bit sporadic and they don't always finish off a full series, but each episode is very listenable as a one off. I've listened on and off for years and still love the characters.

Also love The Unbelievable Truth or any similar panel type games.

Tootingbec · 16/02/2015 20:29

Ditto Ed Reardon's week and Charles Parris
Also Down the Line - the spoof radio phone in programme that is particularly funny if you have ever listened to "Any Answers" (know as "Any Facists" in our house)
