I have it on good authority that this is the thread that people enjoy more than the programme it's about Grin

Boop point - Tom's tone of voice when he asked Pat why Helen had given up work.

Yes it was lovely to hear Kirsty again, her voice was always so distinctive and natural..
I worked for some years listening to children read, working with SENCOs with children with all kinds of learning/developmental problems. I am surprised that Johnnies difficulties were not dealt with earlier on in his education, but so much depends on individual scool policies, funding for SENCOs -even parents who think there is a stigma attached to 'learning support', it is a lottery and as others have said, good to have a genuine real life issue story despite its rather crack handed way of being introduced. I am also pleased the idea of learning support has been flagged as this is a resource which can help intervene in a myriad of ways. I cannot remember a single character/storyline in TA which has touched on this issue before.

guineapiglet · 14/01/2015 15:09

Grin @ crack handed!
Now that would be an interesting story line!

oohh DFW, that's interesting that you were organic too until a couple of years ago, and sounds like you were with the co-op we're with. We were with DFB, then luckily these lot took on all of DFB's organic suppliers when they went tits up. Otherwise I'm sure we would have struggled to find anywhere to send our milk on account of being so small. Yes the premiums weren't great until quite recently, but things seem to be on the up now which is great.

I've sometimes thought that Ed should switch to organic. His system seems pretty low-imput low-output, he'd get the incentives for conversion and a better price than he's getting now at the end of it. I guess the SWs don't want to place to much emphasis on one farming system above another, and Bridge Farm is organic, so they probably think that's enough!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 14/01/2015 17:15

Cheeky, Toomuchtea :)

minkGrundy · 14/01/2015 19:04

Kate is such an annoying teenagerGrin

nauticant · 14/01/2015 19:04

More Kate goodness there. She makes me laugh.

stilllearnin · 14/01/2015 19:05

Glass of wine Hmm

lljkk · 14/01/2015 19:14

Kate's personality rings true for me, a nice change from other characters. Her storyline is only outcome I can't instantly predict, too.

ZeroFunDame · 14/01/2015 19:16

BOOP: I am now genuinely scared for David and Ruth. I see nothing but disaster coming.

Selks · 14/01/2015 19:21

What is this 'Boop' thing that people keep saying?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 14/01/2015 19:23

Was stuck doing homework - what happened?

nauticant · 14/01/2015 19:35

Kate was bored and so was pestering Phoebe to drop everything to entertain her. Phoebe was getting rather pissed off explaining why she wasn't minded to be entertainment for the feckless one.

R4 · 14/01/2015 19:37

Was stuck doing homework - what happened?

Do you mean you were detained helping DC do their homework? That is so ironic: half the prog was Kate trying to get Feebs to do stuff bonding and Feebs was saying "no, not on a weeknight. I have homework to do".

BringYourOwnSnowman · 14/01/2015 19:42

Supervising would have been a better word!!

Read lowfield - Kate true to form. What happened with nolly?

Have the dopeys done a business plan? Electricity bills should be a big consideration! They are almost looking at this like a hobby instead of a business.

A bit like Helen and the shop

Icimoi · 14/01/2015 19:54

I liked Kate acting as if it were ever in doubt that she would get a place - given universities' desperation for the fees they can charge overseas students, you practically have to be an axe murderer to be refused. Though it remains to be seen whether the SWs will inject a note of reality by depicting her realisation that the remains of her share of JS's inheritance is barely going to touch it.

lljkk · 14/01/2015 19:58

Feebs is gonna be seriously happy to feck off to Uni & leave her useless parents to it.

Actually, has any mooted idea of Roy & Kate getting back together? Both are very very needy right now.

Icimoi · 14/01/2015 20:05

Peep and Roooth are incredibly stupid to be developing the perception that they have no altraernative but Hadley Hocchhh. Apart from anything else, if the vendors got wind the price would whack straight up again.

In fact, I can't believe Peep is going to do well on elements of her syllabus relating to financial control. Her perception that her parents have a bottomless money pit is ludicrous, and David was incredibly feeble to give in on it without at least sitting down and doing the figures.

PhaedraIsMyName · 14/01/2015 20:41

I did wonder.

GypsyFloss · 14/01/2015 20:54

It was interesting to hear shades of old Pip tonight. The "I'm right and I'll become more strident to prove it" side of oldPip emerged towards the end.

I wonder whether Johnny's reluctance to acknowledge his reading issue is partly to do with the image he has of John in his head and how "perfect" John was and how he must also be perfect to truly follow in his father's footsteps.

TopazRocks · 14/01/2015 22:09

I was looking up Kevin Whatley today - largely to see if he could play HeatherPet's toy boy in the musical. GrinIt seems he was born/grew up in Humshaugh, pronounced Hoff. Presumably very near Hadley Haugh. It pleased me to see that anyway. Smile overinfested, moi? Non, pas du tout.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/01/2015 00:02

Oh, I'd let the brookfield mob relocate to the NE if they aquired Kevin as a neighbour.

At this rate, Feebs will be trying to find a place at a college in Brum so she can live with Hayley and Abbie instead of her younger teenage sister mother.

EBearhug · 15/01/2015 00:48

Brum will not be far enough to escape Kate - unless she's found a new man by then (very likely), in which case, she'll drop Phoebe like a stone, forget all the bonding, "You're growing up, you should be becoming independent, not clinging on to your mother all the time. I've got my own life to lead as well, you know."
