I could listen to her all day. She's fab!

I like Ken Bruce - he treats everything with the right amount of levity.

menaceandmayhem · 05/08/2010 00:35

Radio 2 is going down the pan.

Can't stand it when they put Graham 'uhhuhuhhuh' Norton on to cover, and the 2 - 5 slot makes my ears bleed, whoever is hosting it. Steve Wright needs his p45 sharpish, but Dale Winton... come on... Refunds of licence are called for.

Ken Bruce and Jezza are all I really listen to. Used to love Chris on drivetime, but his bloody sidekicks make me want to eat my own ears.

FlyMeToDunoon · 05/08/2010 08:24

Ken Bruce is very good. I love his sharp barbed humour. Again though his sidekick is annoying.
No doubt Ken will be removed soon as he is the best thing on Radio 2.

"Is anyone else finding Chris Evans a bit much after 6 months?... " It's taken 6 months UQD? He's back to his me me me persona. And he keeps talking over the records

UnquietDad · 05/08/2010 10:43

Did anyone hear Evans perving over Sharron Davies this morning? Going on about how she is 48 and yet has a superb body in a swimsuit? Cringe!

stainesmassif · 05/08/2010 11:11

Londonlottie - I miss a and j too. Badly. But Adam's big mix tape is no consolation at all. V disappointing.

I have never listened to ken Bruce - daytime r4 listener. Am I missing a trick?!

Pls excuse random capitalisation. iPhone.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Graham Norton covering for Chris. I don't usually like him but thought he did very well indeed.

Steve Love The Show Wright and his infernal caterwauling can beggar right off.

I like Aled Jones too.

Tarrant is a definite no no, he is absolutely awful, he breathes in through his teeth all the time - much better if he stopped breathing altogether

Another vote here for Graham Norton - I loved his thought for the day when the guest was stuck on the tube - I laughed out loud in the car on my own

FlyMeToDunoon · 05/08/2010 19:47

I heard bits of Graham Norton and thought him ok.
Listening to Chris Tarrant made me melancholy for the wonderful days when I first moved to London and he was hilarious on Capital Radio.
He is NOT now.

ShowOfHands · 05/08/2010 19:52

Oh yes, his improvised thought for the day. I believe I also laughed out loud.

essenceofSES · 05/08/2010 20:05

FlyMeToDunoon - I also used to like Chris Tarrant on Capital bit it's like that was fine then but now it's just not the same.

Graham Norton was better the second time he stood in for Chris Evans but still not great.

stainesmassif · 05/08/2010 21:43

I have another - Elaine Paige or 'EP' as she calls herself. I love the music she plays, but my god, she's irritating. Her giggle sets my teeth on edge.

EP's giggle induces murderous thoughts Blush, I have taken to turning the sound down when CT is on - he is awful and I too used to love him on Capital, but now is just awful

Ponders · 06/08/2010 11:02

Graham Norton stood in for Steve Wright a few months ago & he was wonderful - he has proper 2-way chats with the guests. I suspect he's going to be too busy soon to have time to do it again though Sad

Agree that Chris Tarrant is awful - he's rubbish at interviewing, they can hardly get a word in, & Dale wasn't bad but he doesn't listen properly to what people say.

We need to clone GN I think

UnquietDad · 06/08/2010 11:12

Tarrant WINCES all the time - it sounds dreadful on the radio.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 06/08/2010 11:15

I have been really enjoying Liza T too.

Had never heard Chris Tarrant on the radio til this week - he sounds so slurpy and slobberyShock Vile.

MarthaQuest · 06/08/2010 11:19

I think I quite like Paul O'Grady on the radio, which is strange as I couldn't stand him on TV.

But listening the other afternoon, his voice was strangely soothing and he was quite funny in a dry sort of way.

stainesmassif · 06/08/2010 21:17

i agree Martha, i also used to quite like jonathan ross on the radio - though couldn't stand his sidekick, absolutely rubbish - but never liked him on the tv. too smug.

And as for Patrick kielty....

SlartyBartFast · 07/08/2010 11:36

i loved chris tarrant on capital, reminded me too of my halycon days of youff in the big smoke.

i barely get a chance to listen to him in the afternoon but was secretly hoping steve wright was too sick to return.

love graham norton on the radio.

liza tarbuck, another easily led poster here and i can't get the idea out of my head, sewn by mn, that she is a bitch in rL.. so whenever she is chatting to someone on the radio i can just imagine her actually being bitchy and snide...
she was better as a co host with whathisname.

elvislives · 08/08/2010 12:44

I can't bear Liza Tarbuck. She always sounds to me as if she isn't quite sure what to say.

Chris Evans is growing on me, but I can't stand the phone-in parts. Other people's children are not cute first thing in the morning.

Graham Norton was dreadful the first week but better the second, but him one end of the day and Dale the other?

I like Richard Allinson, Johnny Walker and Stuart Maconie when they need standins.

Oh and EP's forced chuckle is dire.

Ponders · 08/08/2010 14:45

I love Johnnie Walker's Sunday afternoon prog

(actually I just love his voice & manner, always have)

[swoon] Grin

castille · 08/08/2010 14:50

I heard Liza on the radio standing in for someone or other a while ago and she was dire, with too many awkward pauses between plodding, inane prattle.

Tippychoocks · 08/08/2010 14:55

Awful. She is just awful

Graham NOrton was lovely standing in for Chris Evans. I love Wogan but find his Sunday show a bit cringey.

Dale Winton is the worst. I thought he was funny-camp before, after listening to him covering for whoever it was I have changed my opinion. He came across as a smug, self obsessed, humourless schmoozer.
