Tell the BBC Trust what you think about Radio 3, Radio 4 and Radio 7

The BBC Trust has launched an online consultation regarding Radio 3, Radio 4 and Radio 7. Click here to launch the survey and give your opinions about the programming on the three networks (if you don't listen/don't have an opinion, you can just leave the boxes blank). Far be it from us to tell you what to write, but we used ours to draw attention to the lack of women presenters...

I also find the piss-poor drama on R4 a major turn off. I actually dive, goalie-style, to turn the radio off when bad drama occurs. I find it immediately infuriating.

I hadn't really heard of 7 but might give it a go having read this.

count arthur strong makes me homicidal and I wish I'd put that in the survey

I suspect the idea of calling R7 R4 Extra was one of those "They won't notice R6 aka 6Music is missing" ideas, else there'd be a gap between Five Live and Radio 7 (previously BBC 7!)

Have been meaning to comment on the repeats of damn "history in 100 objects" (3 times in a day is at least 1 time too many).

Also hate stopwatch radio (whether it is forcing some interesting correspondent from another continent to wrap it up at 02:59 before Five Live has the 3am news (as if it matters if it is 5 minutes later, after all it is 3 AM for heaven's sake, not like anyone needs pip-pip-pip-peeeeeeep accuracy on Five Live in the middle of a 4 hour 'Up All Night' show, unlike BBC World Service, where they have everything mapped out to the minutest detail).

Did anyone hear the tosser plonker idiot on Feedback at the weekend not answering why they are happy to cram the weather into 20 seconds, but appear unable (/unwilling) to drop a damn trailer that can be anything up to 60 seconds.

With they could have had Paxman on instead of Roger Bolton for that editor - he was more slippery than most politicians when it came to avoiding the darn question... and RB did ask him several times if they would, in future, drop the trailer and let people continue to talk!

So I avoid Today (one bit of "stopwatch radio") and even PM gets the same treatment with a trailer at 17:30. Don't they have enough of the buggers - from 05:21 to 00:30 they fill the schedule with promotions for TV Licencing, or some 'coming up' programme (up to a week ahead, usually the day after the previous show went out!)

Love R7, hate the Cbeebies section. It seems to mostly be poor attempts at wacky stories read in truly horrible "funny" voices. Why on earth can't it be restricted to children's classics in instalments or programmes with the original voices that would travel well to radio like Charlie and Lola or Tracey Beaker?

I meander between R7 to R2 and R4, depending on the programming. I try to avoid any of the phone-ins as I find I shout back at the radio whilst ironing (which makes me feel a little wanting).

thefirstmrsDeVere · 03/08/2010 15:05

I love listening to that phone in on R4 on saturdays (cant think what it is).

You get people calling that I only thought exisited in 1970s/80s BBC sitcoms.

There is always a long pause when the presenter says 'we have Mr Facist from Chelmsford on the line' then Mr Facist/Disgruntled/Bringbacknationalservice says 'Hello, hello, HELLLOOO, are you there? am I on?'

And presenter gets all annoyed. ' YES you are on, we dont have much time...'

Then follows some ramble with HUGE gaps between each sentence as Mr Ihateanyoneunder50 refuses to get to the point.

NetworkGuy · 03/08/2010 16:44

Any Answers (?)

PS Although I wouldn't be Mr Fascist and I certainly don't hate anyone under 50, I am definitely in the latter half of my life (!) so be careful else you will make NG into old grumpy guts

thefirstmrsDeVere · 03/08/2010 16:56

I think so.

I am nearer 50 than 30 so maybe I should keep my mouth shut

it is funny when they do 'HELLO is anyone there, am I ON?' though.......

OrientCalf · 03/08/2010 20:05

ooh yes MrsDeVere - i love any qs and any as. it's often on on my way home from work and always entertains me

and when they start with 'I have five points to make' and you can practically hear dimbleby thinking 'oh give me strength

NetworkGuy · 04/08/2010 01:50

"oh give me strength"

so true, so very true!

R4 · 13/08/2010 15:29

Thanks to prompting from Roger Boulton, have finally got round to completed this. We have until Aug 26th (I think, their website is playing up so I can't check the date)

nannynick · 20/08/2010 19:37

Yes it is until Aug 26th.

The link in the OP is playing up, but typing directly into browser works fine.

Not sure if bbc.in/92JVMw will get around the RedirectingAt thing.

nannynick · 20/08/2010 19:58

Are they really thinking of reducing the amount of children's programming... there isn't that much as it is!

A nice children's dramatisation for sometime in the 1pm-2.30pm slot would be nice... so sleepy toddlers who refuse to nap can have quiet time listing to a nice story, whilst I clear up the lunchtime mess!
