For yesterday’s free rein is right, it isn’t free reign. It comes from letting the reins go on a horse and allowing it to go where it wants. (If that’s what people were questioning).

Yesterday's said free reign. So at first I thought it might be that classic purple connection - 'homophones'. Turns out it was just duff spelling.

Missed the red herring as I was convinced that yellow was one.

saved from the red herring by getting yellow quickly. I haven’t heard of one of the purples.

Omg purple was frustrating! I saw three of them but couldn't get the 4th. Started googling but no luck so gave up and left it til last.
NYT says 1.7 difficulty. I thought it was tougher.
