Who is it who loves Easylife Sports? Can you help me please.

I bought an Easylife sport with the idea of it replacing my Urban detour as it folds slightly flatter to go in my boot. Is there someone in the UK who sells raincovers and accessories for it?

When I google I just get the New Zealand website. They will ship to England, but I'm worried about customs charges.

Hi - It's me!!!

I would not worry about customs charges - they are a percentage - and only if you spend over a certain amount (used to be £19 - not sure what it currently is) and the accessories are so cheap anyway.

I just ordered a new locking clasp and bumper bar - total cost including airmail £33.

Customs can only charge import duty on the price of the goods - not the postage too.

I think you might be able to get accessories from www.kidsense.co.uk I think it is "Maxine" who works there.
I did try them - but they were rather slow - I actually found it cheaper and faster to get from New Zealand.

I placed my order with www.secondchildhood.co.nz (by way of emailing to let them know I wanted to order and what it was I needed) around 8.45pm on Sunday evening and by 9.10pm Dean had telephoned me for payment details - I'll probably get my stuff before the end of this week!

As for a raincover - you might not need one - there are 2 options that work well -
A waterproof snugglebag from pupabag ( I ordered the blue and fuzzy version - the inside is sooooo velvety soft and cuddly and it is very well made and practical).

Alternatively and Clippasafe buggy cape Here - which you fit over the frame beneath the hood - you can still raise the buggy hood to keep rain off the face of the baby and this buggy cape can be rolled up and tucked out the way (either behind your snuggle bag if you're using one or just behind the seat) when not in use - ensuring you always have weather protection to hand without the need for a bulky pvc / plastic thing to carry around!

Customs charges are around 20% - I'm sure if you contact customs or view their website you can find out precisely before placing the order. But honestly - prices in GBP compared to NZD numbers look low!
Do the maths first - you may be pleasantly surprised.

They are nice reliable people and I have ordered from them a few times in the past (now on my 3rd easylife sport - having done a few up!).

Thank you so much. I really like it. I have a yellow frame with navy fabrics and it looks really funky. I've got a navy bugglesnuggle with red stars which will look fab on it in the winter. The only downside we've discovered is it's too wide to fit in our boot without taking the wheels off but they are easy to remove so we'll see how we get on.

Thank you for the links I'm going to look at them now. Very excited by the thought of a bumper bar.

Thanks for explaining the customs charges to me. I was petrified at the thought of getting stung for lots of money. The buggy itself only cost me £10 so whilst I'd like to get some of the accessories it wouldn't be worth it if it cost loads.

When you say you've done a few up what have you done to them?

I bought the extra wheel kit and toddler seat for one. When my middle girls were younger.
I got the toddler seat raincover too, which was cheap and fab.
The next one i got the bumper bar for. You have to screw the fittings to the frame which entails taking out side bolts and replacing. Fiddly but you only have to do it once. (Take care not to drop all those washers!). After that you can slide the bumper bar on and off.
I also bought a black seat and hood for that one. It looked like new!

Like you said, if you aquired the buggy cheaply you can afford to do it up a bit.
The locking clasp is often broken on 2nd hand ones, due to people not having the instructions and forcing it. These are only cheap to buy and easy to replace. Sensibly fastened in with a screw not a rivet (like most other Prams).
I've ordered a Bagabottle pouch in blue zoo fabric and some blue zoo strap pads from snunkie. When i get my bumper bar i will measure it up for a blue zoo cover from snunkie too Just to personalise!

General maintenance would be to launder covers, tighten bolts so they are flush with ends of screws (but don't loosen any that are tighter than that). Grease wheels with vaseline. Spray moving (folding) frame parts with silicone spray or wd40. Wipe frame over with soft damp cloth. Just tightening bolts, and the lubrication can make a big difference. Nobody thinks to do this! Repeat after rainy weeks as much dirt gathers and slows the buggy down. Inflate tyres (i keep mine at psi30). It will run faster!

I once saw a double on ebay, the owners husband (a car painter) had reprayed the frame metallic pastel pink for her girls. With the navy seats it looked awesome!
I love it when people by an old but sturdy good buggy and breathe new life into it. So much better than it going to the tip. They really do go on and on.
I love how you can get spares and repairs easily and how indestructable they are! (Now i'm just sounding eccentric and bonkers) lol!

Ps. You might want to keep a couple of carrier bags in the car boot for the wheels. It can save everything getting mud on after adventures!
