Urban Detour in Newborn position-Safety

Hi Everyone

I was given this pram, but cannot be sure whether there is a strap missing to secure the seat at the back when it's in the newborn position or if it is just secured by the velcro in the back of the hood/bag that is provided iyswim.

The strap thats there fits (clicks into another strap backpack style)across the back of the seat only when the seat is raised but not when fully reclined.

There are two straps (that are joined) fitted to the chassis at both sides of the pram, attached to each is a loop and I cannot fathom what they are for/how they are used.

Please help as I obviously want to know all is safe before I put my DS into it.

Thanks in advance

I'm guessing the straps with loops are the customary d rings to which you can fit your own harness (such as a clippasafe harness) should the seat harness break. Think this is by law, all Prams have them. Usually on the frame with slits in the seat nearby so you can fasten the short straps that come with the safety harness to the rings and pull the connectors into the seat. You then fasten the harness around the baby and clip it to the connectors on the short straps!

Unless the seat harness has broken you probably won't need to use a clippasafe harness, but they are really useful to contain toddlers who often figure out how to wriggle out of the standard seat harness.
Did you get the headhugger, chest pads and cosy toes? All these little extras used to come with the urban detour and would make it a bit snugger for a newborn.

Multimummy thank you so much for your reply. I was given all the extras and was looking forward to using it until I took a closer look...I shall go now and look again to see if they look like the safety harness supporting straps you mention.

I did have an urban detour (couple of years ago) and I don't remember any special straps being in place for a "newborn position" - just the seat laying back fully.
Glad you got all the extras - I'm sure you'll be fine - it's a very nice pushchair.

Multimummy I'm sure they're the straps you mention. The seat feels very sturdy in the new born position but seeing as I'm going into mothercare for something else I may just take the pushchair along for the staff to look at to be on the safest of sides. thanks again for your help
