daysoftheweek · 07/06/2010 23:54
HI
i've pretty much decided to sell my pushchair, it's relatively new.
Am I right in thinking that august BH weekend would be the best time?
Finishing about 9pm on the Sunday.
should i sell the footmuff together or separately?
Should I sell the footmuff later in the year?
How do I maxmimse my take please?
(It's an icandy)

BH weekend people will be away or outside in the sun not looking on ebay
do a normal listing - 10 days start Thurs end Sun 8pm ish
look at completed listings to see which have gone for most

i would sell it altogether on a 'buy it now' as you cant be disappointed with the price you get,
i did this with mine, offer both pick up and delivery ( 'send in now' were only £10.50 on a 2 day service!)
i would agree just to do it on a normal listing and look at other listings to see how much they've gone for and how other people have done it, also watch a few in your ebay to see how long it takes- maybe a couple of 'buy it now' and a couple on auction?

Figure out how much you want for it cash, then add on fee's, paypals share and postage.
If you wanted say £160, put it on a buy it now £220 or best offer (people always offer low)
I would sell it all together as footmuffs might struggle right now but you can just factor the price in as a whole.
Also stae that its advertised elswhere too, and put it on your local gumtree / preloved / freeads becuase then you get local pick up, no fees and cash.

If it's a big, first time parents type purchase If you can wait I would also wait until September once the kids have gone back to school.
People are saving for their holidays, buying clothes and cosmetics for their holidays or indeed on their holidays now.
Then you have 6 weeks where it costs £200 a week in ice cream and entertaining the children, then you have to kit them out again in school uniform.
It's at least the 2nd week of September before I will have a spare penny again.

I have to say - when using the best offer thingy - several times I have accepted best offers - only for the customer to tell me they no longer want the item - and I have to then report as "non paying bidder" (to reclaim fees) or "cancel the transaction" (and end up loosing money on my listing fee).
Now - I just put it on for a (cheeky) buy it now price - and set it up - so they have to pay immediately via paypal in order to purchase the item - works out much better!
Also - DO offer postage - if you haven't got the original packaging - make some up using larger carboard boxes/bubble wrap etc to wrap it carefully - and post using parceforce 24 - buying your postage via paypal and dropping off at your local depot (find out by web search first to make sure you can get there easily).
it only costs about £12.99 for parcelforce 24 - up to 30kg - your average buggy is less than this in weight - and you won't be able to weight it - so estimate at 29kg!
Last but important tip - take lots of pics - preferable out of doors (if your garden isn't nice stand it infront of your neighbours garden - we do!) or take to park to photo - take the time to photo with accessories - demonstrating the condition.
Self host your pictures at photobucket.com - cut and past the html codes into your advert (click the html header on the listing box - then switch back to "normal" to see your pics appear.
I'd list anytime you like - you never know when your customer is going to be looking for what your selling. Some folk might be wanting a new buggy for the hols. Lots of new mums don't have other kids an are oblivious to "school hols" too.
Doesn't matter what day time your listing ends if it's on a 30 day buy it now.
Do a 30 day listing on a buy it now (no offers - you get mucked about in my experience).
Good luck with your sale!

Good photos and a good description are key. Be honest in your description to avoid people walking away if it's not perfect! People are realistic, but don't mislead them by omitting things.
Keep your pics clutter free (no babies, cats, saggy washing on the line etc!)and show you're keen to answer questions. Good luck!
