Temporary namechange - I'm sure he doesn't know my username anyhow - but just incase!
I've been dithering over the bee for a while (months).
The new pram I just got is rather huge for our little local buses and not easy to collapse /store (not as great as the website demonstrates) - tis a bit of a "hummer" to say the least. I DO love it and it's staying though! It's fab for all other occasoins!
As a non driver - I was feeling "trapped" having sold my other buggies. I need something available for public transport - that I can manage while caring for 4 kids - and it's half term. I don't use the buses regularly - yet. But there are some free ones now - that I can use to get to M&S and Tesco etc. Youngest DC loves a bus ride!

DH just sent me an email - on spin drying speeds and tumble drying costs - he is constantly on me not to buy the kids treats (comics sweets), to be careful with the electricity etc. Meanwhile he is not making any effort to give up smoking.....when questioned - he says "Ah, but I get enjoyment out of that". Well - WE don't get enjoyment out of the fags - nor being nagged to save pennies while he continues to smoke....

So - I just saw "Red" upon getting this email.... and hit the "pay" button. Say's 1 day despatch - so should be here for half term!

I am NOT remorseful.

(I also have funds to pay for it - out of my stuff I sold on ebay so it won't cause any financial stress).

Good for you!

GeekOfTheWeek · 28/05/2010 16:55

So did you order a bee or bee+? I truly adore my bee, well worth the money.

Imo if he is smoking he can say shit all about your spending.

highlystrung · 28/05/2010 17:45

I did the same thing yesterday. Still recovering from the experience but cant wait for my bee to arrive. Where did you buy yours from??

NortySpender · 28/05/2010 18:32

I ordered from Mothercare - with that JLK code - I only got the 09 Bee (treasured).... I actually love the "treasured" logo on the hood. I couldn't bring myself to pay the extra for the bee+ as it's my 2nd pushchair - (my "umbrella fold" one).
Only £287 - so fab fab fab deal imo! (still has 2y guarantee).

I bought from mothercare too - but when I track my order it says arrival estimate between 31may a
d 3 June. I want it now!!!! When did it say yours will arrive? Ps I bought the bee plus cos I have tall children and it's s bit bigger. Hope you like yours - at least you have something to show for your money - unlike your dh and his fags. And if he moans tell him bugaboos hold their value really well (they do) and you'll be able to a lot of the cost of it back on eBay when you've finished with it!

mamatomany · 29/05/2010 08:29

I can't believe he's got a cheek to utter a work whilst smoking, I used to smoke and DH made a point of having a Starbucks every day to get his share, now neither of us get any pleasure out of anything as it all goes on the DC's lol

nicolamumof3 · 29/05/2010 10:47

good for you! enjoy your bee!

NortySpender · 29/05/2010 14:04

Thanks for the support mum's
highlystrung just looked at my order details - has not despatched. Estimated delivery is 2 - 5th June! I hope that it arrives on Wednesday really....was hoping to use while the kids are off school - they will want taking out on bus or train.

I am uber-excited about the arrival - even though I already have a spiffing everday pram that is new (if not huge!). I am not really one for labels but at the moment I can feel a little bit of the old "street cred" I though I had in my teens drifting back to me.

Mostly I'm excited to be getting something I am sure I will enjoy using - and not feel is 2nd best or a pain compared to our everyday pram (which is how I'd have felt about an umbrella fold). I really do love to have ds facing me and I really prefer a single handle bar - rather than 2 seperate handles.

I am so hoping my 2y old does not look ridiculously big in it - keep thinking mabye I should have got the bee plus - but wanted to keep within budget - it's not my main pram. He is average size.

Im toying with the idea of going to john lewis to get one tomorrow. I dont know if I should though, it seems a lot for a second pram. But then again it should be easier for buses and I really hate the umbrella fold.

Is it really easy to fold with a non walking baby?

Multimummy · 29/05/2010 16:18

Are they not cheaper to order online at Mothercare at the moment? While they have 10% off applied automatically at checkout, and you get an additional 10% off by putting jlk in the discount code box (=20% off!). Think this offer ends 31st may.

dct · 29/05/2010 16:25

I know but I want to have a good look before I get one, and Ive had bad experiences with mothercare before but I can never fault John Lewis for customer service.

mamatomany · 29/05/2010 16:31

Pay on your credit card then any nonsense you can get them involved or go to JL and see if they'll price match as they are never knowingly unsold.
Actually i wish i'd done that.

dct · 29/05/2010 16:52

I might do that! If asking them to price match doesn't work Ill order online, at least I will still have had a play with it in the shop.

Do you know if mothercare will deliver to another address or does it have to be the one registered with the card? I want it delivered to work really

dct · 30/05/2010 09:12

the price has changed on the jl website its £377 and £35 for the hood now, Im just going to order from there , just got to wait for them to open so I can go and play with it!

mamatomany · 30/05/2010 10:09

How bad was the mothercare experience ? Am just wondering if I should send the MC one back and order from JL

Tweetinat · 30/05/2010 11:08

I've had a bee and a bee plus from Mothercare and the service has been excellent in both instances, so I wouldn't bother cancelling and re-ordering imo.

dct · 30/05/2010 14:57

It was bad enough for me to swear never to use them again.

I ordered a buggy that was delivered 3 weeks late then the first time I took it out the wheel fell off. It was one you couldn't buy in the shops only online, the customer service people told me to take it back to my local shop. But the local shop wouldn't take it because they didnt sell it in store, I had to argue with them on the shop floor for about quarter of an hour, then they refused to give me a loan buggy even though the customer service people on the phone said all of their shops had them and it wouldn't be a problem. In the end I demanded my money back and just got a one from else where.

Anyway I didnt buy the bee, when I put dd in it I realised the seat was still too small, there was no way she was going to fit in there comfortably in the winter with a big coat on. If only the seat was a little bit bigger again!

I bought shoes instead.

mamatomany · 30/05/2010 15:37

Lol I debated for a long time Bee v's a Mulberry bag, am having the Bee for a bit then selling it and putting the difference towards a bag, win win

Multimummy · 06/06/2010 00:01

dct - sorry to hear you had a bad experience shopping with Mothercare..
I personally prefer them to other online retailers if the price is right - because I have only had good experiences as a customer there.

I once had a Zapp - and the bar at the top sagged - they sent it off for repair and offered me another buggy in the meantime - which I didn't need , but it was back within a week and it didn't cost me a penny!

I've shopped there a fair bit and they've always been polite, helpful and swift to resolve any problems.

I paid £370 for my bee+ - inclusive of the caonpy and free delivery from Mothercare.
The Bee+ is fantastic!
