Think am going to have to give in and buy the P&T Panniers now that buggy is in doubles mode...don't want to add width, but can't honestly see what else I can carry all the stuff in!

Now, what kind of capacity do they have? Would one of them used alone be big enough to use as a buggy bag for a baby and a toddler? Also, how do you carry them when they are not on the buggy? And are they easy to attach/remove from buggy?

Many thanks all You'd think someone would have invented an amazing bag for the P&T by now, in the manner of Dragon's Den...

they are a pain
no easy way to carry them - just a small handle on the top
attaching them is also not great
you can fit a fair amount of stuff in but there are no sections - it's just one big bag

however until they redesign them there isn't much alternative

Thanks all...okay, as i suspected, there are many flaws with the panniers. I have just found that i can hook a normal messenger bag to the side of the buggy with those buggy hooks. I haven't roadtested this yet, but the bag sits where the pannier would sit, so i can't see it being a problem.

I can't imagine how i'll hold the pannier, and grapple with baby + toddler - at least with my messenger bag, i'll be able to sling it over my body before dealing with the kids.

Oh and it'll save me £35 too. Let's just hope it works. I don't like the sound of no compartments in pannier either - hadn't thought of that.

champagne - DC1 was 21 months when DC2 arrived. We have only just changed from newborn cavity to doubles kit as DC2 is large and outgrew the cocoon at about 3 months!! Getting baby in and out of cavity without help of cocoon is v. tricky. However, DC2 seems to really like being in the bottom seat of the doubles kit - can see the world at last! And is firmly strapped in, so i'm not too worried about moving around. Would obviously be careful when doing steps, kerbs etc.

Basically, P&T has it's flaws [bag, obviously being one of them!] but it does seem to be the best option with two little ones [in my humble opinion]

Thanks again all, will post again if my messenger bag clipped on the side option works out. I may be on Dragon's Den yet!

coffeemum - how did you get on with clipping on your bag? if it worked well, have you got any pics so I can copy? (not very imaginitive myself!)

CoffeeMum · 25/05/2010 12:19

asuwere - hello, hope you see this, sorry i'm coming back to the thread so late.

I did clip my normal messenger bag to the side of the P&T and it seems to be working okay actually! I got two of those carrabena [sp?] hooks from Millets and hooked them onto the side of the buggy, and the messenger bag has two loops where the strap attaches to the bag, so it's pretty simple to attach actually. Plus, you can get into the bag when it's still on the buggy which is handy. It does mean the the child on the bottom seat has his/her view blocked a little bit, but it seems safe, and actually acts as a sunshade too in this weather! Hope that makes sense.

It adds a bit of width to the buggy of course, but I think that's unavoidable with the P&T - and because it's a normal bag, you could unclip easily and throw it over your body if going through narrow doors/into a small shop etc.

Not perfect, but best solution i've found - and i save £35 on buying those Panniers, hooray!

these hooks velcro on and can be useful too

CoffeeMum · 25/05/2010 13:48

Thanks Eldon Ave - they look useful too, but i'm not sure that mere velcro would be strong enough for my stupidly heavy buggy bag! I really try to only pack what I really need, but for two little ones, turns out it's a helluva lot!

thanks coffeemum - sounds like a good solution... I might try it out myself once I move on from newborn mode. Definately good to save ££ on panniers
