Hello im 21 weeks pregnant with my first baby and im really confused about prams/pushchairs. I really like the bugaboo cam but my dh thinks it's not worth the money. So:

I need something that will do ok over rough ground but most of the prams i have seen like this look like they will be too big for around town/in boot with shopping etc.

To solve this do i get something like the loola/quinny buzz for around town and a mamas and papas 03 sport for walks.

Or another option is get something like a silvercross sleepover that will do both?

Oh, and I forgot to add, if you are really on a tight budget, you can pick up a Bugaboo frog, which is the model just before the cameleon. Its a tiny bit smaller, and doesnt have the adjustable handlebar height, but its tall enough for most people (I'm 5ft 10 and can push comfortably) You can pick up a nice frog for about £150-200. Bugaboo are like duracell bunnies, they go on and on and on and on and on.........

I really want to buy new as this is going to be our one and only baby and sell it when i have finished. I meant the loola for around town/keep in the boot. Think I shall have to go and have a play at Jl.

Really like the bee but not sure how it will be for a newborn.

I think it would be OK with the nest, but I wouldnt put a newborn in it without.
Do remember with the cameleon though, if you bought a new one, if you sell within a couple of years, you are looking at upwards of £400 return when you sell it.

Thanks Faddle I will keep that resale in mind. I like that you can change the colours with the cam too.

how about a teutonia? we have the spirit s3 and i still use it daily with a 2 yo. it is good off roading and has a carrycot option and can be ff or rf. my parents bought it for us so i too wanted something i would use and have not regretted it once.

i have used a bugaboo at work and the clogged wheels was what put me off too, i hated it in the park, fields etc but loved it shopping!

good luck-i know how hard it is, it took me months to choose a pram!

mrsSmurf · 10/05/2010 21:04

nicm thanks I hadn't looked at the teutonia whats it like for putting in the car?

it's quite heavy to lift but not to push. i don't seperate it anymore to lift it into the car boot and it fits into a vw golf no problem. i use it anytime i'm in the car too, only use the maclaren when i have to on holidays! will hopefully be getting the double later this year!

do you need bubs to face you? If not the out n about nipper is light enough for city/ car boots (and folds small enough) yet great for all terrain. If you want bubs to face you there is the koelstra here which is a bit heavier but not too bad and has all the accesories

itsatiggerday · 11/05/2010 20:56

we were completely the same, came very reluctantly to the conclusion the bugaboo cam was the preference but refuse to pay that (or in fact ask the grandparents to pay it) so got it on ebay - incl car seat, adaptors etc for really good price. tbh not sure what the resale will be as after dc2 and all the use it's had, it won't be in pristine condition but it's been worth every penny. still glad i didn't buy new though - and it made me far less precious when dc1 threw up all over it the first time!

What about A Mutsy ....I had this for my DD & thought it was great.... Google it & have a look!

WillbeanChariot · 13/05/2010 15:42

I second the secondhand Bugaboo idea. I've got a Frog, bought from Ebay, very good condition. I got new fleeces for it. It's very solid, good off road and I think I would make some money back if I resold.

Rockbird · 13/05/2010 15:45

Bee is lovely for a newborn with the nest, lovely and snug and lies flat. I will be using my Bee for dc2.

Hi everyone thanks for all the feedback.

I had a look at a nipper 360, liked it but really want a rear facing option.

Have spent all day saturday going to a few shops and trying different prams out and all we know is we definatley want a bugaboo, but don't know whether to get a bee or cameleon...think I shall have to start a new thread. Thanks guys
