Stokke Xplory- where to buy? Kiddicare or Back In Action

Hello, I have finally decided to order the Stokke Xplory, and have found it at both Kiddicare and Back In Action online, no local stockists in Cornwall. Does anyone know any feedback on either of these websites? I ordered a push chair from 'Two Left Feet' online a few years ago for my first baby and it never turned up and was a total nightmare trying to get the money back.

So if anyone has any reviews to offer at all with regard to ordering from these sites and there customer service, that would be extremely helpful. Really would be easier to buy in a store but it really is very limited down here.

Thanks for your help.

I have heard good things about Kiddicare however I personally would prefer to have a look and play around with one before I bought one... Is there no way you can get over to Bristol, Swansea or Dorchester to have a look and pick one up?

A friend of mine has used Kiddicare and said they were very professional and had no problems with them.

thisisyesterday · 03/05/2010 15:05

i've used both places and would happily use either of them again

Two Left Feet were notriously terrible - that went bust a year or so ago. Don't worry - not all online children's stuff is that bad!

I have actually ordered from Back in Action and Kiddicare and have found them both to be good. Out of preference I would probably choose Kiddicare - they always seem to have the best price available online and they deliver quickly (registering to order is a bit of a pain though). BIA were good, but they did send slightly different colours in the nursery furniture we ordered (Stokke cot & changing table) - bit of a pain as we didn't notice for a while and by then it was too late to complain.

I've also ordered from both w no prob. I got my xplory from back in action, came the next day and after sales was good too. Make sure you get the 2010 model though. It has a different bar across the front that you can open and a better changing bag. I love mine btw.

jollyma · 03/05/2010 15:17

With all my orders i phoned the amersham branch direct and placed the order by phone.

Don't want to put you off but I bought a stokke Xplori four years ago for DD from back in action. Turn out the design of the Xplori was faulty which means that the seat kept doing down of its own accord. When we tried to return it (because we were wondering if any other bits of the pram were unsafe) to back in action we had an a nightmare getting a refund EVEN THOUGH it was a common problem, that they had knowledge of it and that Xplory were allegedly working on a fix.

Wouldn't buy an Xplory again just because when I buy a pram I expect it to be safe, but if you have to, then I would buy it from Kiddicare (used them loads of time without any problems) and not back in action.

Back in action are local to me so been to see the new 2010 model and it's lovely. Am waiting for the purple colour to be in stock (everyone is waiting). Back in Action say they are the best online for prices but they are selling them at full price and will only price match if you ask. Hardly the best price online though! If you are local to one of their stores then great. I visited the Amersham store and was stood over while I looked at the new model. The guy in the shop seemed really peeved to have to show me the pushchair and how it worked. For the price of them I was annoyed about this. He gave me all of 2 minutes to have a play myself until he started to look annoyed. You can get good discounts online for instance you can see the 2010 model for £690 instead of the £769 retail price. Get Kiddicare to price match and then another 5% discount off the difference. I thinks most mumsnetters could not fault Kiddicare. Hope that helps.

MegBusset · 03/05/2010 21:14

I've ordered a few things from Kiddicare inc my P&T and car seats and they have been great every time.

5inthebed · 03/05/2010 21:20

Kiddicare are great to buy from, the customer service is fantastic.

However, I was in Fenwick pram shopping with my sister and they had Stokke packages for £650 (reduced from £1,000), only becasue they were last seasons fabrics. Bargain!

mum2GKH · 03/05/2010 22:06

Are you still tempted by one 5in? saw you were on pushchair chat.

5inthebed · 03/05/2010 22:24

I'd love to try one, but can't justify buying a new one as DS3 is 17 months.

Alwayslovely · 12/05/2010 12:33

Thanks for all the feedback, have gone ahead and place the order at Kiddicare, and asked them to price match the offer at Dinky Inc. Particular thanks to mum2GKH for the price match suggestion, would never of noticed that on their site, hope they do match it. Cant wait for it arrive now.

Hope you got it ok. Lots of places are selling for £649 now so get Kiddicare to price match. Got mine last week and it's lovely, got the rider board too.

AbFabT · 17/05/2010 18:43

mum2GKH, are you able to tell me where you have seen it for £649 please, and what that includes? Thanks.

Alwayslovely, which colour are you going for?

mum2GKH · 17/05/2010 19:26

www.lullabys.co.uk/shop/erol.html#1X0

here is one of them

I got Kiddicare to price match and they give you another 5% off the difference which basically only knocks off another £4.05 but it's something and would rather buy from Kiddicare personally. This is for the basic 2010 model which has everything except the carrycot. My DD is just 6 months and fits lovely in the seat unit. It comes with a newborn insert so unless you have a tiny baby wouldn't bother. Bought the new footmuff instead which is more like a sleeping bag as pulls around the head. Which colour are you going for?

Kiddicare are still showing as £729.99 but I paid £644.95 on a price match

XboxWidow30 · 17/05/2010 20:27

Hi, I bought mine with Lullabys at £649 for the pushchair only. I had an older version which I sold for a 2010 model. My son is 6 mths old and uses the seat unit with the newborn insert cushion and is so comfy. I might have to add the footmuff to my order though!

Agree about the price match, or Back In Action price match too and I have shopped with them before.

sal1309 · 17/05/2010 22:01

ive bought from kiddicare without any problems.
i bought my stokke from lesters nursery world and they were great.

AbFabT · 18/05/2010 12:26

Awesome, thanks so much. Just waiting for BiA to call me when they have the colour swatches in so we can decide which colour we want, then I'll see about asking BiA or Kc to price-match. Quite a saving!

Are both BiA and Kc good for returns in case a product is faulty? I've been to BiA because it's not too far from where we live, so might be more likely to go with them.

Thank you, mum2GKH.

zgaze · 18/05/2010 12:40

I bought mine from BiA and they were great, pricematched Kiddicare with no hassle. When the Xplory arrived there was a problem with the seat fabrics (one part of it looked like it had been water damaged somehow) and they replaced them straight away with no questions asked. Good customer service (in fact I went back and bought a tripp trapp from them, also pricematched).

AbFabT · 18/05/2010 14:05

Thanks, zgaze. Ooh, I am excited now! I do love money-saving! (Not due 'til October though!)

mum2GKH · 18/05/2010 16:56

No probs. Ask any other questions about it if you want. BiA Amersham is only a few miles away from me and went there when they launched it last month and they had all the colours in store. Never been to that store before but found them a bit rude and impatient to be honest. I had looked around on the net before I went and seen lower prices but they insisted they were the cheapest but they were selling at full price so made them seem daft saying that. All the colours are lovely. The navy is very very dark and looks black. The blue is lovely and so is the purple which I got for my daughter, the hood is a slightly lighter colour (on purpose) and looks quite pinky/purple so wouldn't recommend for a boy. The beige is stylish and the red a bit of letdown as more of an orange red rather than red red.

AbFabT · 18/05/2010 17:16

Ha - the colour I am leaning towards is green - the only one you didn't mention! Though also keen on the blue, if it is so dark it's nearly black.

Thank you. BiA London is close to us - I went there and they only had the purple in - I thought it looked lovely, and a better purple than it looks on the Internet/brochure, but I am more a green fan, I think. And we don't know what we are having, and would want to use it for any subsequent children, so I'd rather have something as neutral as possible. The staff suggested I go to Amersham, could do, I don't suppose it is that far from here (SW London), but if they can get swatches in, in London, that'd save us the bother. The staff member I spoke with was pretty helpful. Hope they are nice about my asking for a price-match!

Very keen - someone just posted a thread about any disadvantages to the Xplory, so I am just watching that for a bit, then I think I'll be ready to place an order (in a few weeks, when I am passed the 24-week mark).

Thank you so much again, I really appreciate it.

AbFabT · 18/05/2010 17:17

past not passed!

The Nursery Shop (www.thenurseryshop.com) will price match too. Or even better, they have some really good package deals that are not advertised on their website but if you phone them or visit the store, you can get a good deal. It depends on what bits you want to buy, but if you want the footmuff/changing bag/parasol etc, you can get some good deals.
