(Unnecessary) new pram for DC3 - help me decide

I had decided I was going to buy a Mountain Buggy plus carrycot but now I'm wavering and thinking of buying a Bugaboo Bee+ instead

There is no logic to this as my justification for the MB was getting a carrycot
But now I'm thinking the Bee would be good for on the tube (and £200 cheaper)

I already have a P&T and a Techno so I don't actually need a new pram

Get the bee while its cheap LOL. the extra 10% applies to the nest too........... or poshbugs can make you a custom baby nest for it.

EldonAve · 28/04/2010 19:01

I wasn't going to bother with the nest given the weather

hmm. see what you mean! but you can always zip the top off the nest, then its still like a soft bodied carrycot. Its a pity they dont do a foam insert to make it 100% lie flat.

they do a seat liner here

Micralite toro with carrycot?
Light and easy for the tube. Can get the carrycot for when you want that. Really light for the tube or bus. Free standing when folded. Can be pulled along folded like luggage if you need. Large air tyres and center of gravity over rear wheels make it super lite and manouverable to push. Really good quality. Good customer service if you need them. Much better value than a bee imo. A good compromise between the two you were looking at.

Thanks for the suggestion but I think the micralite is just too wide

I looked at the Bee in Mothercare today and it is too low down and flimsy

Is a micralite wider than a mountain buggy then?
I know the rear wheels are close and the front wheels "wide by comparison" but I didn't think mine was particularly wider than other pushchairs.
Mine is 24" / 61cm at the front wheels (widest point). It's narrower than my baby jogger.

Flippin heck - just found the specifications for the mountain buggy urban here:
www.chariotsatp.co.uk
Says the width is 27" - or 68.5cm - that's bigger than a baby jogger city elite! Quite a bit wider than a micralite then!

faddle · 29/04/2010 17:36

bee is quite low, but thats an advantage for me as mine is now at the climb in and out on her own stage and I'm sick of having to lift her. The bee might look flimsy but dont be deceived, they are built to last, and they have superb resale value.

EldonAve · 29/04/2010 18:53

The new MB is only 63 cm wide

Micralite Toro is 89cm wide according to Mothercare

Would have something padded for Bee as fabris is harsh.

Much prefer the Bee to the Cham for stability and have loaded it with newborn and bottles of water etc and it was fine up/down curbs etc.

multimummy · 29/04/2010 20:18

Eldonave the Mothercare booklet i get often has misprints and incorrect info. Take it from me there is no way the toro is 89cm wide. That would be nearly a meter wide. Wider than a lot of doubles i think!
Take a tape measure to your pram shop!

EldonAve · 29/04/2010 20:32

multimummy - I missed where you had posted the width of yours
Agree Mothercare is not a reliable source!
