Panic over travel system / pushchair purchase - desperate for advice!

I have today purchased the Quinny Buzz 3 travel system (with Maxi Cosi car seat and base, and the Dreami Carrycot)- advised by Mothercare. Was very excited until I read the dreadful reviews on mumsnet! This is my first baby and I am to be honest, clueless. Please share with me your recommendations for a suitable pushchair / travel system - will cancel Quinny order for replacement product when I know what I should be going for. Thanks in advance - and Happy Easter!

Baby jogger City mini? Can use the maxi cosi on it as a travel system i believe. Will be good as an all rounder everyday and also when you travel.

Plus I think you may be able to get a carrycot to fit it to.

whoops am wrong about the carry cot!

I bought exactly the same travel system for DS.

It was fantastic when he was a newborn, the car seat just slotting onto the base was brilliant (although we only used it about 6 times), the carry cot was sooo useful.

The wheel base is relly wide, it only just fit through my front door, it's a PIG to get around the shops, and I ditched it when DS was 7mo as it was just getting too heavy to push around the shops.

Go back to Mothercare and walk it around the shop - you'll find that you won't fit it down half the aisles, and that it's a PITA.

try M&P or similar.

If I was starting all over again, i'd get something like the M&P Luna (total lie flat, carry cot attachment.

Maxi cose are brilliant though, especially ifyou get the isofix base just to drop the seat on to in the car. Can't recommend that enough (sadly not compatible with the M&P luna though)

Ok, afer all last week's deliberation, we narrowed down the search to 3 : Bee Plus, Babystyle Oyster and iCandy Cherry. Bee just looks too small / flimsy - not worth all the hype, Oyster (Black Pearl) seat is a bit shallow but otherwise fabulous and ticks all the boxes - just hasn't been around long enough to give me comfort, despite coming out tops in Which review. Oyster design and functionality is VERY similar to iCandy Cherry, which seems to be better tried and tested over long period of time - only downside of Cherry when comparing the 2, is handlebar height is not adjustable.

So, in conclusion, I think it's going to be the Cherry! Thanks for everyone's assistance in this quest - and to those who may use this thread for future purchases, I strongly recommend the Which pushchair review.

Hello, sorry if i am a bit late but i had the Petite Star Kurvi3 and loved it loved it loved it. It was much cheap than the Quinny and to be honest I preferred the colours on the Kurvi too. I defiantly think its one to look at, as I had no complaints.

And then there's THIS
A "Mi Wheels" - which apparently is virtually identical to the Bugaboo Cameleon - and even the Cameleon covers will fit onto it - so you could make up your own Faux Cameleon for around £330 - and if you don't want the car seat in the package - you can email the seller - I hear he has sold the package without car seat for £185 - so add on the cameleon covers from Mothercare and the postage on the Mi Wheels = £299! Not bad for a "Faux" Cameleon!

Everyone I know who bought an expensive travel system ended up getting something else (me included) A couple of friend;s got a Maclaren XLR, with the carrycot and loved it. They hav never wanted to change.

I have a loola, which is used A LOT as a mobile seat around the house as he's only 3 months. I purchased the carseat, but not the carrycot, as in truth, once you put a footmuff on it, the pram is snuggly enough and with a blanket in it, you can make it near as makes no odds flat.
I really like the pram HOWEVER - I could forsee myself whipping the carseat in and out on a daily basis but it's just too awkward to fit in the car. It's a maxi cosi creatis and I don't know if it would be worth the ost to get an isofix base, but I find it too much of a struggle to use it in the car AND with the pram base.
Don't get me wrong - it works well on the base - it's just in the car that I have issues with.

i have a quinny speedi and until now have loved it apart from the useless hood. the closing mechanism is not working, so i cant fold it down. i need help looking for a replacement handle bar, any suggestions?

Hi, you could try a My3 or My4 from Mothercare? Also the new Bee is bigger, I believe. Agree not to be too worried about longevity. Important that it doesn't get destroyed if you want to use it for a second dc but you probably won't be using it as your only means of transport much after your baby is 18 months.

teameric · 28/07/2010 16:57

Just from experience, I personally would just go with a trusty Maclaren rather than wasting your money on a bulky travel system, I made the mistake of buying a Loola with DC no 2, only used it for the first 3/4 months cos after that it was like pushing a tank, bought a maclaren (techno classic) and never looked back. I'm now pg with no3 and will just buy a more up to date Maclaren (my old one is still going strong after nearly 4 years but it just looks a bit manky)
