p&t putting in the doubles seat from 3 months?

Hi
I've got a p&t sport for my 20 months and 3 months old boys, but ds2 is quite big and really really now getting to the limit of fitting in the newborn underneath part. He's already quite squashed but ive been trying to keep him in there long as possible, but now thinking that i'll have to swap it into the 2 seats. I feel a bit worried about him going in the seat though incase it's not enough support for him?
Has anyone put their child in it with the 2 toddlers mode from that age and can you tell me if its okay?
Should I put him in the double seat @ the back, or the other way round? I'm a bit confused as the manual said put the lighter one @ the back which would be my 3 months baby, but the double seat doesn't recline @ all does it? and the normal seat would be able to recline a bit more?
I don't need any reclining for my toddler at all because he refuses to sleep reclined anyway but not sure the baby will be comfy sleeping in the pushchair without ne recline, and he's still in the stage of going to sleep in the pushchair about 80% of the time that he's in there..
If anyone's had to do this @ a young age like 3-4 months cos of bigger babies can you just advise what was the best way that u did it and which child in which seat. Thanks

Or if you have another double that u think would b better for those ages please say what it is, I would consider changing it if theres a better solution cos im not totally happy with the p&t but dunno whether double pushchairs are just annoying generally and all will have problems?

I put my ds2 in the doubles seat from 3 months and he was fine.

I put him in the back seat as otherwise the pushchair wasn't balanced properly and tended to tip backwards, especially when ds1 got out. It did recline a bit (unzipped the sides) and I used to wedge him in with blankets for a bit of extra support. By then he did have quite good head control etc though.

If you want to put the baby in the front you could try weighting it down a bit (i.e. put something heavy in the triangular foot-rest bit)?

thanks
maybe mine would be fine too then, i suppose i will just have to try it out and see
which one do you mean reclines a bit, the back double one??

ds was out of that bit at 4 months as it was too small. i put him in the back seat, unzipped it & made it nice & cosy. i did find that the double mountain buggy was better.

Yes - the back one reclines a bit - the zips are on the sides of the seat?

fairy15 · 14/03/2010 20:38

yes & once the weight of the baby is in there it will go back a bit more

Same problem with DS, so put him in back seat with zips unzipped. Also used the car seat removable head support until he was about 5 months. Was fine.

thanks everyone, i got dh to turn it into the doubles thing so ill see how it goes today
and ill have a look @ the mountain buggy too.
the double seat is soo close to the ground, i always thought it looked fine when other people had it bt now i dunno :S keep thinking dogs will be able to come right up to him in the street... oh well im sure it will be okay
