Taking buggy on plane

Has anyone ever taken a buggy onto a plane (as opposed to having to put it in the hold)?

We have two lo's and having a holiday abroad this time. Would be very handy to be able to have one of the pushchairs with us at all ttimes as having to carry babies all the way tthrough to luggage collection can be a bit much sometimes

Only heard of a friend who took a quinny zapp on as hand luggage as it folded so small into its own bag.

Usually you don't have to check your buggy in, you can keep it with you right until you get on the plane, and then you wait for it the other end, the buggy does get a bit bashed about though so I would not take an expensive new one.

What about buggy bags? Do you think these actually help protect the pushchair? I just wonder because if airport staff can't see that there is a pushchair inside a bag I just wonder if they will get thrown about even more.

babyluck, we got a travel bag for our techno and i'm glad we've had it. we take it up to the gate and then put the buggy in the bag with coats, baby bag, etc and so only have to take a nappy and wipes on the plane. we get it back at the baggage reclaim. the last time i got it back it was ripped so i'm glad i had the buggy in there as it would probably have been it ripped instead.

I'm planning on taking a quinny zapp.

The chances of being able to take my huge P&T are zero.

I'm going to put the 1YO in the buggy when the 2YO wants to walk and put the 1YO in a sling when the 2YO needs to be contained in the buggy.

harimosmummy you can get the double phil and teds into their buggy bag. i bought one years ago when getting the pram so i could keep all the bits together. can get the double kiwi explorer, new born kit+mattress, 2 buggy bags, a s&d raincover and s&d sun mesh in too!

i've seen lots travel with a p&t easily do-able but would certainly use travel bag.

i plan to take my nipper 360 abroad in May and have just bought travel bag for that purpose.

if you take zapp make sure its stowed in travel bag out of site of airline staff!! i have been questioned twice and told i can't take on!! they are invaluable if you have more than one lo as you've described. As the waiting for baggage reclaim can be awful with a tired child.

See, that was my plan with the zapp - sneak it onto the plane and then I've got it right when we get off the plane.

I'm not really bothered about having a big buggy on holiday - DS prefers to walk most of the time and I'd prefer that he walks too... It's just really in the airport (mostly for our flight back which will be LATE and he will likely be asleep...

Given our holiday party consists of 2 under-2s, 2 12YO and 2 15YOs (and only 2 adults) I think having somewhere to stick a sleeping DS, so I can have sleeping DD in her sling and my DH can organise the older ones.
