Hi,

I am really stuck and dont have a clue about pushchairs!

My DS (almost 16 months and a big boy 12.8kgs already!) has outgrown his wee SX pop we bought for ease of use when not using his SX sleepover pram.

We are looking for a reliable, sturdy and comfortable pushchair that is slightly wider than the SX pop as he seemed squashed in it for the last few months.

As its not for everyday use, our budget is around £150-175.

I liked this Maclaren quest sport but dont know if its any good?! IE is it sturdy enough, easy to manouver, spacious etc.

Any advice (or other recommendations) would be most very welcome. Like I have said I really dont have a clue and just chose the SX pop before as I had SX pram and it would fit in the boot of our scenic!

TIA for advice/help/recommendations.

Hi

I am not an expert but having just recently bought a Quest I would say perhaps this may not be the one for you. My DS is 19months and of a reasonable size, whilst he is not squashed in the Quest there is not lots of room. I would guess that the Pop is around the same size seat as the Quest.

Lots of people rave about the Baby Jogger City Mini. It does have a bigger seat and the fold is fab but I personally didn't like my one and I sold it quite quickly. It got caught on a small pot hole on the pavement and nearly tipped right over, that put me right off.

I did have a M&P Ora for a while and I thought this was a good pushchair. The seat is of a good size, sturdy and its easy to steer. The downside is it i quite heavy. Argos do the M&P Ora which is the same as the M&P Luna.

HTH

Thanks so much for your reply, very useful! Had a friend who had a jogger and she sold it on PDQ too as she just didnt think it "felt right" and had nearly tipped a few times. Im not a big fan of 3 wheelers anyway.

Weight isnt an issue really as I am used to lugging about his heavy sleepover so will look at the M&P suggestions you have given me.

Thanks so much, really appreciate it.

Mac techno xt is brill. I bought one for my dd when she turned 2 as I sold her bug cam but still needed a good buggy as we do miles and miles of walking. She is a tallie and though she has just turned 3 and obs has not needed a buggy for some time (especially as her brother arrived 7 week ago!) when heavily pregnant I could still easily push her in it with one hand, loaded up with shopping and hold an umbrella up with the other. The black with silver handles is divine. Mine was 156 from Baby and Co is Bristol.

I've had several quests and they are not my favourite for everyday use but fab for holidays, sling in back of car etc but being tall I struggle with the low handles.

nicola thank you! heading out this weekend to glasgow pram centre and local mothercare world to see some recommendations and try the seats for size with the little big man. Have to say I am impressed with the macs I have looked at.

macs are the best umbrella stroller worth every penny imo! exc.quality and easy to use. good luck choosing!!

carrielou2007 · 11/03/2010 09:13

It was all down to NIcola that I got into macs in the first place I have had 2 pops as on paper they are a very similar spec to the xt but nothing like in real life. Meant to add the xt is 195 but look for offers, Mothercare I think had them on offer at 165 not sure if still on.

glasgowlass · 11/03/2010 09:21

Thanks ladies, you are amazing. Spoke to DP, we can push to £200. Going tomorrow to test drive some and will then decide and shop around online for good deals. Looking very much like it will be a mac though!

Is it sad that I am well excited about going shopping for new wheels?

Just to say that I bought a mac xt off here just recently and my 3yo and 6o both fit in fine - 3yo is a big boy too! It's very roomy. Boots were doing some offers on them in store (£156 I think) when I popped in recently. If you're not fussy about the colour, new wheels, you could buy one a lot cheaper than £200.

glasgowlass · 11/03/2010 10:01

Thanks aq will deffo have a look into a good quality second hand one, kiddicare are doing them for £165 I think though.
