Curiosity - What age would you be happy for your baby to face outward???

Have got a Frog that I love - but have just bought a single mountain buggy (always wanted a single, and one came up cheap locally!!!)
Prefer the fact the MB is a single piece pushchair as opposed to 2 parter on Bug!!
However, love having little Matilda facing me - but then she is 9 months!!
What age would you be happy for your wee one to face the world??
Thanks

??? not sure, ds is 22 months and i still have him facing me! he is getting to the age now where we 'chat' when we're out walking. we have a teutonia spirit s3 which is a rf 3 wheeler and can be folded in 1 piece. maybe look at a teutonia?

My Ds is 11 months and will face me until he is out of the pushchair and walking.

Lol lol lol lol lol lol.

My dc are 9 and 7.

We didn't know babies were supposed to face us in the puschair all those centuries ago.

So we went out in our umbrella fold Maclarens from about 6 months, if not before, if they could almost sit up and were happy in a bit of a recline.

And they always faced out to the wider world!

Me, I thought they'd probably enjoy a break from looking at cooing gurning chatting Mummy all day long. How nice it must be to see the outside world, not just your house and your primary care-giver 24/7.

(And I think I was right ).

My DD is 7y and was in a forward facing pushchair from birth. It wasn;t anything I ever considered. It never stopped me chatting to her when we were out and about, etc, and she still developed normally too.

When DS was about 11-12 months old he started craning his neck around the pushchair to see where he was going. So I turned him round. So I would say when your child wants to face forwards they will let you know!

I mainly use the umbrella-fold buggy now (16 months) so he looks outwards but if it is very cold, or he is ill, or it is late at night and he is tired, I get my big Loola Up out and face it towards me again. He quite likes having a change I think.

I used the umbrella fold from about 8 months so he was facing forwards about 50% of the time from then on. Now he faces forwards 90% of the time.

i have my 2 yr old and 8 month old facing me in a double teutonia

it's nice. i kept ds1 facing me til he was about 18 months too i think, then he wanted to turn round.

i like being able to chat to them, pass them stuff etc etc
i dunno, i tend to do quite a lot of walking and i always think it must be really boring just sat ther ein a buggy, so if i can talk to them it's a bit nicer? plus ds3 howls after about 5 mins if he can't see me lol

i once was in town and had to tell a lady that her child was choking on something because she was chatting to her friend and she couldn't see him (he was facing forawrds). now, obv, it's a rare occurence, but it scared me a bit. i often give mine snacks in the pushchair and never even thought about the fact that i couldn't see them if soemthing like that happened

my dd will be 3 in may and i still have herfacing me. I enjoy talking to her and hate shouting over the top of the hood. she likes talking too, she can still see the world, just once it's passed her.

personal choice, I do have a buggy that i keep ine the boot of the car but i don't use the car that often.

thanks everyone - I am only pulled because I love the new MB - nothing to do with child development!!! .
DD1 was rearward facing till she was about 18 months - but then I didn't find a cheap MB locally!!!
Food for thought - maybe store it and keep frog on the go for a bit longer.
Just an afterthought - people always talk and discuss the benefits for the child, facing their mother whilst in a pushchair - I love boring them rotten about 'when mummy was in the Air Force' and 'did I tell you how I used to make mud pies with your Grandmas cooking eggs' etc etc - no wonder they fall asleep so well in their pushchair!!!!
thanks again
