Phil & Teds Sport With Maxi Cosi Cabriofix and double seat?

Just want to get an idea of opinions really, I know that P&T dont recommend that you use a car seat whist the pushchair is being used as a double but I have seen people using it with a car seat and its looked fine. Why is is not recommended?

Having searched through the Mumsnet threads the opinion appears to be because you need to have the top seat in the flat down position but on the P&T website here the top seat is up, so not sure thats why?

Is because of the danger of tipping? I know thats why they say to have the heavier child on top but I know lots of people who put the baby in the top one and let the toddler climb in and out of the bottom seat when they get tired etc which is the same maybe?

Am rambling now, sorry! My real question is do/have any of you had the car seat on top and older child underneath?
FYI I'll have newborn and 16mo.

hi, yes we used it with the car seat and baby on top and toddler in seat at bottom. I never had any issues with stability don't know if that is because the car seat weighs a few kgs too?
I found it to be a really good combination just undid the top one of the buckles on the main seat to give the car seat enough room and it did not effect the head room for the toddler in the bottom seat that way.

Don't use the car seat now but do put my 3yo in the bottom seat and 1yo in the main seat, however it will be going back to newborn/toddler mode again in the summer!

I suppose your way will work for short journeys.

However I like the totally flat newborn bed and having the older child on the top. It looks more comfortable for the baby and I found the older child could get out and walk without overbalancing the pram. Sometimes I would put the changing bag on the empty front seat just to be safe side.

Larsazlol Thanks, I don't feel so billy-no-mates now!

Good to know if can be done and that you didn't have any problems. I thought stability would't be too much of a problem, like you say the car seats are jolly heavy anyway. Undoing one of the buckles on the main seat will be no problem as DD1 will only be 16mo and is very short for her age.

I assume it was the maxi cosi cabriofix? I think thats the only one that fits is it?

Thanks again X

I think phil and teds make their own but we have a maxi cosi cabriofix.

For any people judging I wasn't recommending it as the only way to transport a newborn we all know they are best layed flat but answered that it is possible and blooming useful for quick runs in and out of shops or school drop offs when they are asleep, everything in moderation and all that.

I was thinking of doing the same thing once DS is here for the school run, plonking DD3 in the bottom seat and the car seat on top.

I read somewhere you can used a M&P Primo Viaggio, I know you can use a Maxi Cosi and of course a P&T seat but just wondered?

Thanks all, I'll get the car seat adaptor then. Like you said, for a quick trip to the shop its a quick and easy option, which combined with the lie flat option for a newborn makes for a very convenient buggy. I love it when a plan comes together!
