Best Rear-Facing All Terrain?

sasamaxx · 19/02/2010 15:41

Just wondering what people felt was the best rear-facing all terrain.

I know of the following:
Emmaljunga Cerox
Mutsy Urban Rider
(not entirely sure these are all-terrain)

Any experience of these or anything else appreciated - thanks!

Maxicosi mura 3 or 4. Kiddicare.com had some deals.
Performs really well rear facing but is bulky when folded. Worth a look. Can compact a lot when quickly and easily dismantled. Pop seat off. Pop wheels off. Really comfy for your baby.

Britax Vigour 3+

Got mine £200 brand new on ebay.

Lovely spacious seat, Reclines flat. Huge hood, Big basket, So easy to steer. The front wheel can be fixed or on swivel and I found it fantastic in the snow and on the beach in winter.

Both myself and my Ds love this pram. Wish I had gotten it when he was born.

Thanks everyone - I'll check these out.
Nicm - Just now I have a mountain buggy so preferably about as off road as that - I do go off road and I don't live in a city so it needs to cope with country tracks, forest roads etc

yes teutonia would cope with those but doesn't do dry sand very well due to the front wheel suspension. good luck with your search!

Chatanooga - I quite like the look of the Mura - do you have one?
How easy is it to recline?
How comfy for baby's lower legs?
I don't care about bulkiness as it won't be going in the car anyway
Thanks in advance!

Hi. Sorry for late reply. I did have a mura but sold it because it wouldn't fit in the car and it didn't fold compactly enough to keep our hallway clear unless i dismantled it!
The recline on the seat is a bar that you pull upwards on the seat back. It's really easy and their is calf support for baby's legs. The seat is really comfy and ergonomic for baby. Cradles them v well. My ds loved the t bar. You can remove it if you don't like it but its great to keep a wriggly toddler in place

While you fasten the harness!
It's the best rear facing with larger toddler that i have tried.
I wonder if Kiddicare still have them on offer?

I have an i'coo platon 3 (hauck) - its very tough and handles everything but it is big and quite heavy. Not easy to fold etc. I keep it up in utility room and have a small one for the car

Thanks for that!
Yes kiddicare do have them on offer - I'd rather see one in real life first though - I thought the seat didn't look very big so it's encouraging that you though it good for a larger toddler - what age was you LO when you had it if you don;t mind me asking?

ksmum - thanks - I'll check that one out too!

Well, i could fit my 6y old in the seat, so i would not worry about it being big enough at all! The mura was much bigger than i had expected, turns out the people using them in the youtube vid's must be nordic giants! The seat is similar in size to toddler stage car seat. Not heavy though, oh and the harness is gorgeous! Nicely padded, roomy and easy to fasten. Bit of a bargain at Kiddicare!

We have a Mutsy 4Rider Light and we're really happy with it. It does well on gravel, sand and even snow (left bugaboos in the dust ), as the wheels are quite large. It is similar to the Urban Rider, but a lot easier to push (so I hear, haven't really tried the UR myself) with the swivel wheels at the front. I've looked around a lot and it seems the 4Rider has the largest front swivel wheels of any 4-wheeler.

Great - thanks for that.
Just realised what you meant about being a bargain on kiddicare - no unfortunately that deal is finished but they have 10% off them just now!

Thanks elk4baby - I do like the look of the mutsy - would like to see one in real life - there don't seem to be many about...

I love the Mura and I think there would be no problem using it for a toddler. My daughter is 10 months old and looks tiny in it.

It is bulky, but the seat goes flat. It is very easy to push as well.
