I have been looking at moving Ds2 16 months into a stroller, he is a big boy, weighs just over 2 stone now, and is tall too!

I have looked at the Maclaren XLR but it is quite expensive, is it really any better than the XT aside from a slighly larger seat?

Any other strollers that can be reccomended?
TIA

Mamas & Papas Pipi Aruba in Argos at the moment - £40 - it's a fab stroller - lie flat, raincover included, lovely colour, nice sized seat. If there are any left near you it's a real bargain!

The new XLR's eat can be adjusted by one hand, whereas the XT you have to use both hands to lie it down. Both have adjustable handles. Maclaren Spitfires are also lovely, but no adjustable handles. But it does come with a footmuff and a liner.

I've had a spitfire and an XT and prefered the spitfire.

Currently I have a Baby Jogger City Mini for ds3 (14 mo) and love it. Its easier to push than a maclaren, and my very tall 4 year old fits in it still.

If you can justify the cost (esp if you are likely to have another) a baby jogger city mini I have heard is great.

I have the mamas and papas pulse/beat and have been happy with it.

I am a little disappointed with my zapp.

if hes 16 months why not go for a maclaren volo.simple but strong and long lasting.

Skegness · 08/02/2010 13:14

That does look bargainatious, BertieBotts. I have a Maclaren Quest as my public transport buggy and am very pleased with it, izzybiz. It was not £40, though! It's extremely light and manouvreable. I understand it's less sturdy than an xlr/xt and it doesn't recline completely flat but for an older baby I'm not sure that matters so much. My 6 month old seems just as happy in it as in her much cosier heavy duty pramette, to my surprise.

FlyMeToDunoon · 08/02/2010 13:17

I agree. Go for the maclaren that suits you best. Volo is lower and doesn't recline.
Triumph reclines slightly and is still one handle height.
Quest reclines almost flat and has an adjustable footrest. One handle height.
XT has the adjustable handle.

It depends on wether your child sleeps in the pushchair and how tall you are.

BertieBotts · 08/02/2010 13:29

Oh yes, only one handle height on the Pipi but very good recline and I love the colours. I couldn't resist (There is a pink one too - not sure if it is on offer)

xlr has fab suspension and a huge seat for toddlers however they are big/heavy to stor put in car and push tbh. i just soldmine and gone back to a quest which is fab.

izzybiz · 09/02/2010 12:28

Thanks for all your replies, I think as he is still only a baby I need one that reclines as he does still sleep when out and about!
I had the Zapp for Dd and it was a pain when she was tired, I used to have to tip the buggy back so her head didn't droop forwards!

I think I am probably veering towards the XT, the Mamas & Papas ziko's come in such lovely colours though......

Another vote for the Baby Jogger City Mini - I love mine.

It's a dream to push, much nicer than any 4 wheel stroller. It has a huge hood that acts as a brilliant sunshade.

It folds up so easily, brilliant for public transport and is so light.

They are a bit pricey though, though not that much more than an XT and well worth it.
