New edition Bugaboo Bee Plus

Does anyone know when the Bugaboo Bee Plus will be available in the UK, and how much it will retail for?

The Mothercare website mentions March, but no mention of price.

I can find references on line to $100 more so what about £60 more than current? That's what they did with the cammeleon as well when they bought out the new one. Date - spring time - whatever that means!

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 23/01/2010 17:17

Thanks northernlurker! Yes, I have seen references to $100 and also $50. Hoping it's closer to the latter. Or maybe I'll wait until the new one comes out, and hope that the current one is then heavily discounted.

Hi,

The Bee Plus is in the new Mothercare catalogue at £459, available from March 2010. It's on page 106:
Mothercare catalogue

I wouldn't hold my breath for March though, as very few places are even aware there will be a new model-including a very helpful sales lady in Mothercare! She said the Bugaboo rep normally comes in and gives them a demo, which they haven't had yet.

We have been waiting for the new Bee but decided after a few recent complications (baby due 22/2/10) we needed to get on and order something else. I know I will want the Bee Plus when it comes out so didn't even consider the old Bee. I like the new wheels and extending seat, but it will be just a bit too late for us.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 23/01/2010 18:35

Thanks for the link skibelle, I had been on the mothercare website, but hadn't got as far as the catalogue!
Our baby is due in May, so I will wait for now and see if the release date for the bee plus gets put back.
What have you ordered instead?

We have ordered a Cameleon, as had a change of heart and decided we would benefit from having a proper carrycot (and don't need to fold it much or go on buses etc.) We will prob buy a M&P Nipi as a light alternative (or I might just persuade hubby that we need the new Bee too when it does come out!) It really irritates me that with so many prams on the market there is NOT ONE that does what we want it to do. I don't think my criteria are that unusual!

I would DEF get the Bee + if we were due in May. I am on some contact lists for hearing info about the Bee + so I'll post back if I hear more. Good luck!

Skibelle - just a quick follow-up. We went to look at some pushchairs today, and after being 95% sure we were going to go for the bee, have now ruled it out, and are deciding between the M&P Urbo and M&P Sola. Both do the same as the bee, are much cheaper and much much easier to operate (by which I mean switch the seat direction, fold etc.). They are slightly heavier, but not much, and the seat goes completely flat, rather than only down to a 30 degree angle. They feel more sturdy / secure. The bee almost felt like a toy in comparison. And the seat is slightly (about 5-10cm) higher, which for some reason seems to make a big difference.
So I think you have definitely made the right decision not to get the bee.

Sorry - just realised the comment about seat height was unclear - the M&P seats are the higher (i.e. closer to the parent) ones.

Thanks for the update. I hope the M&P ones work out well for you. We wanted something that was compatible with Maxi Cosi carseat which we'd already got, which I don't think M&P do? Cam arrived today and, so far, I'm delighted!

Skibelle or others, has anyone tried the Bee Plus and found any negatives? I am leaning towards the Bee Plus as it matches London life style of small streets and shops. I haven't so far heard any real negatives and I am getting a Maxi Cosi car seat from a friend so it sounds perfect. Any negatives please let me know before I spend this much money... appreciate it...

Multimummy · 05/07/2010 17:49

I have. Only negative, it's not good off-road. Other than that it's practically perfect!
It's a really fantastic pushchair, especially for city life and public transport.

PJen · 06/07/2010 09:58

Oooh Multimummy it sounds great! Thanks for the review. I am very keen on getting my hands on one now

Same here - just bought (2nd hand and cheap - a easylife sport NZ all terrain buggy - virtually bomb proof and can take all the mud you can sling at it!) a 3 wheeler huge thing for off road.

The bee does everything else - really well - and in style...

The Bee Plus in my opinion looks innovative and modern.
The Bee+ looks stylish, strong and it is really functional and makes taking our 2y old out a pleasure - as he is so happy and we can keep him comfortable, whether he wants to face the world and be active - or if he tires, wants some peace and maybe a nap and he'd prefer to face his mummy.

Also you can get bags of shopping in the basket beneath - it is really deceptive how much you can fit in there. I get both my older kids school rucksacks in there! Plus water bottles and the occasional swimming kit.

Oh, and there is even a NEW version of the bee plus - Summer edition HERE - which looks very cool!

PJen · 06/07/2010 16:06

Now I am getting cheeky and asking one more questionWhere can I get the bee+ cheapest?

Multimummy · 06/07/2010 16:23

I got mine from mothercare - when they had 10% off all pushchairs - then I used another 10% off code in addition to that which I found on the discounts board on mumsnet.

20% off in total.

You can look on the discount board for a 10% code - or wait and see if they do another 10% off promotion - and find a code to use off the web - to gain the full 20% off - They did this in April and May (near the end of each month I think).

Or - just go into your mothercare store and haggle?! - you never know!
