If you live in London and you have a phil and teds can you come and talk to me?

Any thoughts appreciated. I've just had a new baby and DS is 19 months old. Not a very stable walker and certainly not able to walk far on his own. Had considered sling and buggy option but now find that I want to be able to put DD down occasionally when out and about so I can focus on DS. Am considering the Phil and Teds but I wonder if someone can talk to me about getting about on public transport in London with the P&T? Does it fit on the buses? Can you get it into that space for pushchairs/ wheelchairs? And the big one, what about tubes? I regularly use the tube and although mainly there is a lift where we get off, I do occasionally have to take the buggy on the escalator. No problem with my small lightweight maclaren but is this a real no-no with the P&T? Does anyone have any experience?
Thanks!

Never had a problem with it, as it steers well. It is wide but as long as the bus isn't too busy it shouldn't be a problem.

I have never taken mine on the bus but have seen others do so
It fits but no other buggies can

Escalators are a bit dodgy imho - I think you would need to lock the front wheel

Well i don't live in london, but I think I can give you a few tips.

Don't ever, EVER go down a travellator with two children in a phil and teds. NEARLY lost control of that situation.

A few times, the whole thing nearly toppled over if I was going up or down off a kerb at a slightly awkward angle. I am small but I'm strong, and my children weren't tiny babies. I was using it for a 2 mile trip into town, so i needed it beyond the tiny baby stage. l only once took it on a bus. It was alright, no disasters, but it didn't feel like a zippy little buggy iykwim.

If i was doing it all over again, i'd get the jane power twin, i think the seats are a bit higher and buggy's centre of gravity higher, less inclined to 'topple'.

Thanks for the replies; really appreciated. OK so it is useful to know that I wouldn't be able to use it on the tube. I guess it is back to the drawing board then because we use the tube so much.

Thanks all.

Why don't you have a look to see if there are any P&T's on the tube and ask the mums how they found negotiating the tube?

FWIW I live in London and have a P&T (love it, but don't use the tube) and went to a playgroup yesterday and there were 6 P&Ts parked outside, and about 3 other kinds. Its an incredibly popular pram.

Re centre of gravity, doesn't a heightened centre of gravity make a pram more rather than less inclined to topple over?? Example - a people mover (high centre) cornering rather than a sports car (low centre). When I had DD in the maxi cosi clipped to the top of the P&T, it moved the centre of gravity higher up and it toppled over when in a cab that cornered hard whereas it hadn't before.

I don't think any double buggies are a good option on the tube

Sling/single umbrella fold/reins much better

Hi,
I don't have a phil and teds but have used buses and tube with a Mountain Buggy which is a similar size many times.
I need to get on the back of my local bus but that hasn't been a problem. I have had a 'near miss' on an escalator though which was pretty terrifying. I think it's the length of the buggy that is the problem- too much overhang. I still use the tube now but avoid escalators.
I guess you may already know this- but if you go on the tfl journey planner and select 'advanced options' you can plan a stair free and escalator free journey. I have found it possible to get to most places this way although I might end up walking a bit further.
