Best rear-facer witha big seat? How's the Loola?

beckstar24 · 14/01/2010 09:34

Just bought the Petite Star Kurvi which is really cool but the my 12 month old's head is already touching the hood, so it's got to go back. Would rather something that folds in one piece but not essential.

Is the seat on the Loola a decent size?

Bugs are out as again not big enough . .

Cheers

when you say bugs are out do you mean all of them? i think the seat on the "proper" bugaboos are bigger than on the bee (well, they look like they are anyway)
i don't think the seat on a loola will be any bigger than that on a bugaboo

i thought about getting a loola, but reading on here put me off. also TONS of them on ebay, which makes me think lots of people buy them and don't like them!

I have a loola and it has a decent sized seat.

I know lots of people don't like them but I do like mine. It is quite heavy.

elk4baby · 14/01/2010 14:18

We have a Mutsy 4Rider Light and the seat is really roomy.
I believe there was a video about it on YouTube, if you want to take a closer look.

nappyaddict · 14/01/2010 23:09

mumo75 Which year version is yours? Does it have a bucket seat or lie flat seat.

differentID · 14/01/2010 23:26

loola seat is ok, but straps are pants for tall children.

how big a 1 year old are we talking about?

maxybrown · 15/01/2010 09:27

bebe confort urban/trophy are fab, very bouncy and a dream to push if you can one in reasonable condition, I sold mine a few months ago when DS was just past 2, he could have got a couple more months out of it before looking very silly. Quite often you can get these very cheap though. Mine was £15 ish i think but did need a bit of TLC
It folds in one piece both ways but not an umbrella fold. A MILLION times nicer than the loola

maxybrown · 15/01/2010 09:29

oh or the Bebe elite, that is the one I had!! trophy has mini air tyres. But elite was very very easy to push, did just glide with a 2 year old in!

nappyaddict · 15/01/2010 10:08

Which was easier to pusht he elite or the trophy? Which loola did you have?

maxybrown · 15/01/2010 10:09

Not used trophy only elite, er.....original loola. DH LOATHED it

mumo75 · 15/01/2010 10:13

bucket seat on mine 2009 just a year old now

nappyaddict · 15/01/2010 10:29

Is it like the first or second picture on here

mumo75 · 15/01/2010 13:43

yep thats mine

i meant 2008 as i keep forgetting we are 2010 now!!!

BertieBotts · 15/01/2010 13:45

differentID you can get longer straps if you write to Dorel (though probably maxicosi now) - it was a design fault on some models that they came with too-short straps.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 15/01/2010 13:48

I have the Loola and I don't really like it, a bit of an expensive waste of money really:

Bad points:

  1. Very heavy.
  1. Difficult to lift up onto pavements, you need to take a run at them to get the leverage.
  1. Seat doesn't sit up straight so Ds keeps pulling to sit more forwards.
  1. Crappy, fiddly rain hood.

Good points:

  1. Faces both ways.
  1. Good bouncy suspension.
  1. Easy to collapse and put up.
  1. Different handle positions.
  1. Sun hood comes all the way over so good protection in the summer.
nappyaddict · 15/01/2010 15:57

I wouldn't go for the original Loola, go for the Loola Up instead.

Alternatively have a look at:

Inglesina Ottuto
Bebecar Rversus
MPX
Chicco Trio For Me

differentID · 15/01/2010 17:15

Bertie- I know as I've ordered them for a customer, but they are finding 8 months later that the straps are getting short for their very tall daughter again.

NewYearNewKnickers0nMaHead · 15/01/2010 19:50

I always recommend Loolas. And I managed to get some extra long straps for mine.

Dont find it too heavy up curbs either, but then I have always had quite heavy pushchairs.

BertieBotts · 16/01/2010 11:21

Oh, I see - how annoying. DS is only 15 months so I probably just haven't reached that point yet. I tend to use a set of reins as straps anyway because then he can actually lean on the bumper bar.

yy Loola Up better than Loola.

littlebellsmum · 16/01/2010 20:26

Does anyone know if you can attach a car seat to the old bebe conforts?
I liked the tips earlier about looking out for old ones and just wanted to know if you can use car seats on them
Thanks

maxybrown · 16/01/2010 20:36

Hi as far as I know yes! Have seen a lot of people selling them with a car seat. Hope this helps a little.

hettie · 16/01/2010 21:20

yup re the car seat and older bebe conforts. They use the modulo clip system, so windoo carrycot, creatis car seat and a seat unit all clip in and out really easily... I have an elite in (plus seat unit and carrycot) in the loft which I keep meaning to get down to photo and sell if you're interested littlebella...

littlebellsmum · 17/01/2010 19:40

Thanks for the reply - yes, would be interested in seeing the photo's hettie ( when you get round to it of course!)-
I didn't get the one i was bidding for on ebay
Jenny

hettie · 18/01/2010 13:17

yeah no problem, it's a bit chaotic here at the moment, as we have no kitchen and no heating so everything is stacked up everywhere! Will try and get it down later in the week. What's you email address?

littlebellsmum · 18/01/2010 21:11

Thanks Hettie -I've just seen a picture of the Elite and had a rethink about what I want (!) I think a three wheeler will be better - I keep thinking about what I used with my older DC's but we lived in a different place and I didn't have to do a school run then.
So, sorry to mess you around but I don't think the Elite is for me but thanks for the offer
Hope the building work goes well and you get some normality back soon
