Anyone machine washed a P&T Cocoon?

Some kind friends have just given me a cocoon for my impending arrival...but it is a teeny bit mucky. I've done a quick google, but it seems to be considered "spongeable" only. Has anyone successfully washed one in the machine or is it a disaster waiting to happen? Thanks in advance !

Because it's got a firm base I didn't see how I would get it in the machine without squishing it all up and damaging it. Mine came from ebay and had a bit of an 'aroma' about it. I filled up the bath and added some non bio washing liquid and squished it around and took a nail brush to it. I also did this when DD spewed all over the interior. I can't remember whether I just let it drip dry or whether I put it on the line for a bit of a blow but it definitely freshened it up and no damage.
Sometimes just sponging just isn't enough!

Thank you ! You are right, sponging it just seems so bleh...will definitely give your bath idea a try. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't really notice the base or look at it properly, those delightfully milky stains just grabbed my attention. Glad that it solved your "aroma" issue, thanks again !

I washed one in the bath but the marks didn't come off although it smelt/looked cleaner. I then used dry foam stuff for car upholstry and that worked. So I'd do the dry foam stuff on any marks and then hand wash it IYSWIM

Excellent ! DH has just confirmed we've got some of that car upholstery stuff, so will get cracking tomorrow (clearly I always like to clean grotty items on Christmas Eve, it's a indication of the exciting life I lead !)Thanks SleighGirl, Mumsnet is great for this kind of thang.

I just about managed to bend mine so it would fit inside the washing machine drum. Washed a treat.

I used a nailbrush to work it into the fabric a bit, I also made the fabric a bit damp too before spraying
