So what's the big deal with the bugaboo's?

I'm currently pregnant with DC4 following a 6 year gap and am completely about pushchairs and the current market.

Everyone seems to be raving about bugaboo thingys. I had a quick look online, they look quite nice but bloody hell they're expensive .

What's the big deal? Am I missing something? A friend gave me a brand new m&p luna thingy, why is the bugaboo better than that?

I'm interested as we have more money this time than we have ever had with the other DCs who all had 2nd hand (friend's castoffs) pushchairs and I would like to buy a nice new one this time.

Cheers xx

I wanted a bugaboo - because I'd heard everyone raving about them - when I fell pg with DS3 - and had the money to spend on a decent puschair.

Went to Kiddicare in Peterborough and looked at the bugaboo but wasn't really taken with it, the basket was tiny and in the end we bought a Hauck Infinity.

go and look at buggies. dont look at the label. think about what u need it for, if it needs to fit in a cvpboard in the house, if it needs to stay in the hallway, will it fit in the car etc etc.

but i love love my bugaboo bee. I dont use a buggy much as prefer to use a sling, but the bee is perfect for the bus (i dont have a car), folds small in one piece, fits under my stairs, and has a fair sized basket. it also rear faces which pleases dd4 who is v attached to me.

I have a bugaboo cameleon and I am so glad we spent the extra money on it. It is just so light and easy to move around, has front wheel suspension, can be rear or front facing and the height of the handle can also be adjusted for my much taller husband. My DD is 15 months now and we are still using the bugaboo while most of my friends had to buy a MacLaren after they got fed up with hauling around their bigger, bulking prams after only 6 months. DD slept like a log in the pram and even when she falls asleep in the pushchair now I can put it flat for her, I can't recommend it highly enough.

If they suit your lifestyle then they are worth it but you could say that about any buggy.

If you are in and out of the car a lot, a cam will be a pain in the neck as it folds in 2 parts, the bee is super light and easy to fold (but I hated mine though I seem to be in the minority as everyone loves them). If you walk everywhere a cam would be great.

I wanted a cam for dd but could not justify the price. I had a m and p prammette and a lovely 3 wheeler for walking. I wanted dd to face me (didn't realise how much this would bother me until she had arrived) and we would walk to town (3.9 miles each way) and back and walk school run for my sister so I then bought a quinny buzz. I hated it, bulky, ugly, awful to steer, heavy so I finally bought a cam and loved it.

I sold it when dd was 2, for me it suited me. I had several buggies but then bought a maclaren xt. I am expecting again so this time I just went straight for a denim bug cam plus a buggy for the car.

They are very expensive but if it suits your needs (and you don't buy several others mistakenly beforehand like I did) it is worth it!!

I've got a bugaboo cameleon which i got from my mum for ds and is now the property of dd (who's 9 months) and have to say i've loved it with both of them.

i walk everywhere/get the bus and it's brilliant if, like me, you're walking rather than driving as it's a bit of a pain to fold away. but it's incredibly light, really manoeuvrable, incredibly comfortable I think both for a lying-down baby and once they're sitting up, has great suspension, and if something goes wrong (as has happened twice - the same fault both times) they're great about replacing the faulty bit very quickly.

My friend has a bugaboo, and i find the steering weird not light and you cannot wheel them over mud as they completely clog up [pretty crap where i live emoticon]

We have a cameleon and a buggy now for the car. I've found the following with the bugaboo

PROS
Good on snow, sand and grass/Great if you walk everywhere and is lovely to push/ Comfy and warm for babba/ Looks nice/ Can change the direction baby faces/ Still looks new for baby 2/ can fit a buggy board fine

CONS
Crap parasol/ Really crap raincover - buy a universal pram one instead (size large works great)/ Very expensive/ You will need to change to a buggy before aged 2 /Be prepared for punctures/ Handle gets wet and muddy when you are dismantling it for the car/ bit wide in shops/ rubbish basket

For me the Bugaboo Cameleon has been fantastic and worth every penny. I am curreny using it for my second child and was able to easily give it a new lease of life by buying new covers and mattress. A joy to push and comfy for baba. I would however echo others in saying it's a pain in the arse to fold up and down - but you do get used to it. I wouldn't go for any other pram tbh and they hold their value very well for re-sale.

i loved the push of the bugaboo but hated the bucket seat! Try a few out see what you want 1st
