Can a red pram be used for a boy or girl
2greatboysandabump · 16/12/2009 18:36
Hi, question is in the title really. I really like the red mamas and papas Herbie pram (colour called hot and bothered), but am not going to find out what we are having. Do people think that it would be ok for a boy or girl, or does it seem more of a girly colour?
QuintessentialShadows · 16/12/2009 18:37
I had a bright red pram for my son. I was not fussed, thinking it looked pretty "unisex". It is not like it is pink, is it?
GrimmaTheNome · 16/12/2009 18:38
Completely OK. Its really only pink and purples which aren't gender neutral.
Cadelaide · 16/12/2009 18:38
Don't think any laws have been passed on this one have they?
Yet?
CuppaTeaJanice · 16/12/2009 18:39
No.
Boys MUST have a blue pram. Girls MUST have pink. It's the law.
???
DS has a red and green pram. I've had loads of lovely comments about it. I don't think it's girly at all.
Now if it was a pale pink frilly pram with broderie anglaise covers it might be a different matter...

Yes of course suitable for either.
I had a nice bright red Mutsy with ds and never even occured to me it might be a problem you would dress a boy in red tops and stuff wouldn't you?
2greatboysandabump · 16/12/2009 18:44
Glad you all agree. Red it is. I hadn't really thought it was not for boys until a work colleague made a comment when I described the colour of the pram.

I know the pattern, it has writing on it about 'pretty' something, & I think some pictures of flowers somewhere...
IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 16/12/2009 19:55
My quinny buzz is blue and has a big flower above where ds head was never bothered him
AvadventCalendar · 16/12/2009 21:27
it's just red on the outisde iwht different shade of red inside with random words on isn't it?
sounds pretty unisex to me

Of course it's ok for a boy. As Cuppatea says there isn't a law. Not yet anyway, I'm sure the marketing teams are working right now on compulsory pink buggies for girls decorated with glitter and pictures of fairies.
Sorry I'm just in a bad mood after going into ELC earlier and seeing pink globes, designated boys and girl sections, rubbish dressing up outfits etc. When I asked the shop assistant if she thought it was constructive she said "well it is a very pink and blue shop."
cece · 16/12/2009 21:42
I would think red is more of a boys colour myself but also perfectly acceptable for a girl as well.
I got a blue buggy for DC3 - didn'tknow what we were getting either - would have been fine for a girl but we had a boy in the end.
